Miami Marlins vs. New York Mets

New York Mets
The Marlins will take on Kodai Senga for the second time this season. Senga dominated the Marlins in his first game after getting rid of some early jitters.
He finished with eight strikeouts in 5.1 innings and left with a 1.69 ERA and a win. His xFIP was 2.28, and he struck out over 38% of batters in that game.
The Marlins were fooled a bunch in that first game. Only Jazz Chisholm and Jesus Sanchez have any power against righties dating back to last season.
Look for Senga to dominate the Marlins for the second straight time.
Miami Marlins
Meanwhile, it’ll be Trevor Rogers on the mound for the Marlins. He faced the Mets in his first start and took a loss after allowing three earned runs on four hits and two walks in 4.1 innings. He struck out four.
The lefty won’t have it easy against the Mets today. The Mets have five batters with high ISO numbers against lefties from last year.
That includes Starling Marte, Francisco Lindor, and Pete Alonso, who each hit a homer yesterday.
The Pick
I’ll take the Mets to dominate today. I’m on the Mets -1.5 at New York betting sites.

Seattle Mariners vs. Cleveland Guardians

Cleveland Guardians
The Seattle Mariners will take on Cal Quantrill of the Guardians today. Quantrill finished with a 7.71 ERA in his first start of the season. He struck out three and had a WHIP of 2.14 after allowing eight hits and two walks without finishing five innings.
Quantrill is usually good about keeping walks down, but he doesn’t have a high strikeout rate from last year.
The Mariners have some pop at the top of the order, but this team also strikes out over 23.5% of the time against righties. Only Julio Rodriguez, Kolten Wong, and Ty France have high wOBA against righties. The rest of the lineup is below average.
Seattle Mariners
Marco Gonzales will pitch for the Mariners. He’s a lefty who had just one strikeout in his season debut. Gonzales went five innings but allowed six hits and two walks with four runs against Cleveland the last time he pitched.
The Guardians usually limit strikeouts well and did that against Gonzales in the first start. There’s not much in this Cleveland lineup that stands out, but they should find their way on base if they remain patient and earn some walks.
That’ll help them score some runs for Quantrill, who should find a rhythm again tonight

Chicago White Sox vs. Pittsburgh Pirates

Pittsburgh Pirates
The White Sox will hit against former pitcher Vince Velasquez tonight.
Velasquez has a 5.35 xFIP dating back to last year. He also has a 5.79 ERA this year, including a loss. He allowed five hits, one walk, and two home runs against the Reds in his season debut. Velasquez couldn’t even get five innings in for his first start.
He’ll face a White Sox lineup that limits strikeouts against righties well. This team has struck out under 20% of the time since last season.
Chicago doesn’t have a killer lineup, but like we saw last night, the White Sox have plenty of offensive potential against this Pirates pitching staff.
Chicago White Sox
On the other hand, the Pirates will face Mike Clevinger of the White Sox. Clevinger struck out eight batters in five innings against the Houston Astros. That was one of the more surprising season debuts this season, but I’m not buying it.
He has a 5.48 xFIP dating back to last season and struck out under 20% of batters while walking close to 8%.
Clevinger will face a red-hot Pirates lineup that is underrated heading into this season. Oneil Cruz and Bryan Reynolds both dominate right-handed pitching.
The Pick
Don’t look for another big outing from Clevinger. He’s not consistent at all.
That said, after last night, I’m most confident taking the Over in this game.
