San Francisco Giants vs. Arizona Diamondbacks
Tuesday, September 19, 2023 – 09:40 PM EDT at Chase Field
Pitching Duel in the Desert
San Francisco and Arizona begin a huge 2-game series on Tuesday, and the Diamondbacks get the call as small home favorites with Zac Gallen (15-8, 3.50) on the hill against Alex Cobb of the Giants.
Mound Rematch from 6 weeks ago Cobb and Gallen matched up on August 1st in San Francisco, neither factoring in the decision and both going 6 innings while allowing 3 runs. The Giants won the game, 4-3, as small home ‘dogs at Bovada (visit our Bovada Review).
Cobb is pitching through some hip pain right now, and managing well considering he has surgery in the near future. It has been a struggle most of the season on the road, however, with Cobb sporting a 5.26 ERA in those 14 assignments.
Gallen has scuffled recently with three poor efforts peppered around a complete game shutout at Wrigley Field, but he has been money at home with an 11-2 record and 2.18 ERA in 14 starts.

Philadelphia Phillies vs. Atlanta Braves
Tuesday, September 19, 2023 – 07:20 PM EDT at Truist Park
Phillies Seek Revenge in Atlanta
A mound rematch from just 6 days ago in Philadelphia is on tap in Atlanta where the Phillies and Braves continue their series. Cristopher Sanchez (2-4, 3.40) will try and avenge the loss he took when Spencer Strider (17-5, 3.73) clinched the NL East title in the meeting last week.
Phils 4-Games Up in NL Wild Card Race A 2-run homer by Austin Riley in the first inning last Wednesday at Citizens Bank Park proved to be the decisive blow in Atlanta’s 4-1 win. Sanchez settled down after that to pitch into the eighth while striking out 10, while Strider went a full 7 and whiffed 9 as -165 chalk on MLB odds boards.
That was the only outing against the Braves this season for Sanchez, and Tuesday is his first career appearance in Atlanta. Strider has won all 3 starts against the Phillies this year, fashioning a 1.89 ERA and striking out 27 in 19 innings of work.
Both lineups can explode at any time, but the ‘Under’ is the right play on Tuesday.

Minnesota Twins vs. Cincinnati Reds
Tuesday, September 19, 2023 – 06:40 PM EDT at Great American Ball Park
High-Scoring Showdown Expected
The Reds are tied with the Cubs for the third and final NL Wild Card after topping the Twins 7-3 on Monday, and everything points to more scoring Tuesday night when Kenta Maeda (5-7, 4.50) and Fernando Cruz (1-1, 4.05) take the mound in Cincinnati where all the top sportsbooks agree on a 9½-run total.
Twins 11-3 O/U Last 14 Roadies Maeda is coming off consecutive wins over the Mets and White Sox, combining to toss a little more than 12 innings and allowing 4 runs. The victories followed a span of 5 starts by Maeda that saw the Twins lose 4 times. Minnesota has only won 4 of Maeda’s 11 road starts despite the righthander owning a respectable 3.31 ERA away from home.
Cruz will open for the Reds and is making just his second starting appearance to go with 52 relief outings this season. Ben Lively is expected to follow for 3-4 innings, his first appearance at GABP since June 21.

New York Mets vs. Miami Marlins
Tuesday, September 19, 2023 – 06:40 PM EDT at loanDepot Park
Mets Ready to Keep Rolling Against Marlins in Game 2
It may be a case of too little, too late for the Mets, but they are playing pretty good ball right now and knocked the Marlins down a notch in the NL Wild Card race with a 2-1 decision on Monday. New York is the right play to do that again in Game 2 of the set.
Mets Have Taken 6 of 8 from Fish Recalled from Triple-A last week to face the Diamondbacks, Joey Lucchesi (3-0, 2.83) turned in a brilliant performance with 7 innings and only 1 unearned run allowed. He last faced the Marlins in May 2021, pitching 4 shutout innings in Miami, and will be facing many of their hitters for the first time.
Braxton Garrett (9-6, 3.67) has faced the Mets twice this season, both outings way back in April and one of them a long relief appearance. The former 1st-round pick in 2016 has produced better results on the road than at home, especially in the long ball column where Garrett has allowed 13 HR in less than 75 innings at Marlins Park.
