The Colts dropped a 34-30 decision to the Broncos in their opening preseason contest. But last week, in a 21-13 victory over Arizona, their defense looked much sharper despite the Cardinals’ propensity for mistakes. The Colts’ three-backup QBs combined for a 19-of-27 performance for 190 yards while the rushing attack piled up 166 yards and three touchdowns in the win.
Bengals Profile
The Bengals have looked more like the Bungles in preseason after a 17-14 loss to the Bucs followed by last week’s 27-3 thrashing at the hands of the Bears. Cincinnati’s ground game has been stuck in neutral with a combined 118 rushing yards on 38 carries over those two games. The aerial attack has also resembled more of a mild affront as backups Logan Woodside and Rocky Lombardi combined for only 144 yards with no TDs and two picks in the loss to Chicago.
The Pick
The Bengals will likely remain ultra-cautious with Joe Burrow which means he will get reps in this game but nothing notable. On the flip side, Indianapolis has its backups clicking on all cylinders and I wouldn’t be surprised if they brought that mojo from last week into this week’s game with so many roster spot photo finishes on the line.
