The college football regular season might be over, but there’s still plenty of college football on throughout the month.
We’ve got games on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Ultimately, the games on Tuesday-Thursday aren’t very appealing. But those games are just the appetizer to what’s ahead.
On Friday, Alabama will battle Oklahoma in the College Football Playoff First Round. On Saturday, we’ll get three more first-round matchups for the CFP.
It doesn’t get more exciting than that.

NCAAF Odds Bowl Season At-a-glance
There are some cool games in college football this week. But nothing will compare to the exciting four-game slate this weekend in the first round of the College Football Playoffs.
Let’s talk about a few of them below.
No 9. Alabama vs. No. 8 Oklahoma (+1.5 -115)
Friday, December 19 – 08:00 PM ET
We’ve got an SEC matchup in the first round of the College Football Playoff.
Ultimately, Alabama has struggled over the last two weeks. The Crimson Tide beat Auburn, 27-20, but were out-gained and out-played in that one. In addition, Alabama lost to Georgia 28-7 in the SEC Championship Game.
That said, it’s difficult to beat a time twice. Oklahoma knocked off Alabama, 23-21, on November 15. Despite that loss, Alabama is a 1.5-point favorite in this one. The line hasn’t adjusted for the spread, but the total has trickled down from 41.5 to 40.5.
Neither offense has played very well recently. Oklahoma has scored no more than 17 points in its last two games. It’s been the defense keeping the Sooners afloat.
In college football, it matters who the quarterback is. Alabama has the better one with Ty Simpson. He threw for nearly 800 more yards than John Mateer and added 26 passing touchdowns with five interceptions. Mateer threw 12 touchdowns and ten interceptions this season.
Consider Alabama in this game.
No 10. Miami vs. No. 7 Texas A&M (-3.5 -110)
Saturday, December 20 – 12:00 PM ET
It’s usually tough for ACC opponents to face off against SEC teams. But Carson Beck is familiar with SEC teams, just like Texas A&M, from his time in Georgia.
At the start of the season, Miami looked elite. The Hurricanes choked in the middle of the season but went on to win four consecutive games to make the CFP.
Meanwhile, Texas A&M needed a 31-point comeback to knock off South Carolina at home and most recently lost to Texas on the road, 27-17. The entire Aggies’ schedule was against the conference’s worst teams, except for the game against Texas.
Texas A&M hasn’t proved anything, which is why Texas A&M has dropped from -4 to -3.5 in this contest. Consider backing the Hurricanes in a minor upset.
No. 11 Tulane vs. No. 6 Ole Miss (-5.5 -105)
Saturday, December 20 – 03:30 PM ET
It’s usually rare that we get two rematches in the College Football Playoff. But just like Alabama-Oklahoma, Tulane and Ole Miss will play against each other as well.
A lot has happened at Ole Miss since the Rebels defeated the Rebels 45-10. However, the coaching staff remained intact, except for Lane Kiffin. And it’s not like Tulane has an advantage, either.
Tulane’s former head coach is working double duty as the Florida Gators’ head coach. He helped the Green Wave win the AAC last week, but he’s also got a ton on his plate.
The sports books don’t expect Tulane to be competitive. Ole Miss is a 17.5-point favorite, up from -16 at the open. I’d agree with backing Ole Miss, even at -17.5.
Enjoy Bowl Season!
