The 2022 MLB season is locked out with the MLBPA and the MLB disagreeing on many topics. We won’t get into what the players want and why the owners aren’t giving it to them. But ultimately, it really stinks that we must wait out another regular season in the MLB.

The MLB hasn’t had a normal season since 2019 and now the league just continues to lose fans left and right. I guess many won’t care if the MLB doesn’t start on time because the NBA and NHL are still currently playing. However, once those leagues are finished, the MLB usually takes the spotlight.

Many say that baseball is the hardest game to bet. Many analysts say that the MLB is the hardest and most unpredictable sport to bet on. But overall, if you can find your niche and keep at it throughout a full season, profit will come.

If the season starts late, it’ll just be like the pandemic years. The MLB hasn’t had a full season since 2019, so at this point, it’s clear that MLB players can adapt quickly and perform within weeks of getting ready.

Of course, a full year of baseball would help with a larger sample size when it comes to betting. The more bets you can play at the positive expected value in the MLB, the more profit you’d be expected to return. But ultimately, as long as the season happens, bettors should be in good shape.

I’ve heard that owners are saying that they make the least amount of money in April, so the owners really don’t care if games are canceled in the early months of the season. But ultimately, by locking the game out, fewer fans will be in the ballparks.

This lockout is because the MLB wants a more competitive league. As sports bettors, we love to pick on bad teams and bad players throughout the season. So it’s a bitter-sweet type of deal, but overall, for the game, it makes sense that players want teams like the Pittsburgh Pirates to spend and compete, instead of tanking.

In a shortened season, teams with more durability could end up winning it all. We’ve seen dozens of pitchers fatigue as the season progresses. With a shortened season, a player that normally fatigues by the playoffs might be fine when it comes to playoff time.

For other players, sometimes it takes a while for them to adapt and get back into sync. That could hurt down the line for some of these teams.

But ultimately, as a sports bettor, we just take it day-by-day and don’t let anything else affect decisions. We’ll take the data and roll with it. I’m a guy that likes to look at 30-day data for the most part. I’m not a major sample size guy because in the MLB, slumps will happen and adjustments will be made.

Once the MLB season gets back, join in on the fun. Don’t bet like crazy in the first week, but ultimately, watch each team, understand splits and unorthodox stats. A month in, you’ll have some really quality stats to look at to help build your bankroll in the MLB.
