Real-Time Check-In is the latest money management tool integrated into FanDuel’s platform that uses machine learning technology to alert the customer when it detects impulsive deposits.

Check Yourself Before You Wreck Yourself

Cory Fox, Senior Vice President of Public Policy and Sustainability, introduced Real-Time Check-In last week during the SBC Summit Americas conference. It is a responsible gambling tool that spots any unusual deposits made into a user’s account that are inconsistent with their account funding history.

Should Real-Time Check-In be prompted by an unusual deposit, the user will be notified by an alert, and at that time, they can review the deposit and decide whether to allow it to go through, lower the amount, or cancel it altogether. It is another safeguard integrated into FanDuel’s platform to keep its customers knowledgeable about their spending habits and allow them to make better financial choices.

Fox explained, “Last year, we saw how providing personalized insights into a customer’s activity through My Spend can help them to better manage their play. We also know deposit is a key moment in the customer journey. Now, we’re able to use machine learning to provide a new level of support through Real-Time Check-In, encouraging customers to reflect on how much money they’re depositing and if it’s within their budget.”

Real-Time Check-In is simply the latest responsible gaming guardrail implemented on the FanDuel site, joining Reality Check, My Spend, and a self-exclusion list available to anyone who wishes to prevent themselves from having access to the site.

Operation HOPE

Last September, during Responsible Gaming Education Month (RGEM), FanDuel announced a $1 million donation to Operation HOPE, a non-profit organization that provides free tools to community members seeking to obtain financial independence and wealth-building tools. The organization announced it would be using the money in one of FanDuel’s newer markets, Kentucky.

“FanDuel believes in the importance of financial literacy education and how expanding access can promote and empower responsible gaming,” said Alison Kutler, Vice President of Responsible Gaming and Community Impact at FanDuel. “By extending the impact of our Operation HOPE partnership to Kentucky, we are able to help fund access to financial counseling across the state and reinforce our commitment to giving back to the communities in which we operate.”

Operation HOPE provides the following assistance:

  • Credit & Money Management
  • Small Business Development
  • Employee Financial Wellness
  • Youth Programs
  • Homeownership
  • Financial Disaster Recovery
  • Client Grant Opportunities

“At Operation HOPE, we’re proud to partner with FanDuel to help educate individuals about responsible gaming, budgeting, and savings,” John Battista, VP of Partner Success at Operation HOPE said. “FanDuel has been a committed partner supporting our efforts to empower families and communities across the U.S. with the tools they need to thrive in today’s economy.”

The integration of monetary safeguards into its platform, as well as the company’s financial commitment to responsible gambling programs throughout the nation, has made FanDuel one of the most socially conscious sports betting and iGaming platforms in the gaming industry.
