Are the Miami Dolphins the Worst Team in the NFL?

The Miami Dolphins came into the 2025 NFL season with bad vibes. Star wideout Tyreek Hill was the subject of trade rumors throughout the offseason, while head coach Mike McDaniel entered the year on the hot seat. With a porous offensive line and vulnerable defense, expectations were low in South Florida.
But there were some who thought, what if McDaniel could re-capture the offensive magic that we saw in his first two seasons of his Dolphins tenure? With a winnable game on tap against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 1, it was a great opportunity for the team to start the year on a high note. After all, the Colts were starting Daniel Jones at quarterback, and we all know how that turned out for the New York Giants.
What happened next was the complete opposite. The Dolphins were dominated from start to finish in a 33-8 blowout in Indianapolis. Considering the strength of the opponent and margin of defeat, it’s fair to wonder if the Dolphins are the worst team in the NFL right now.

The Dolphins Offensive Line is a Turnstile
Remember that popular GIF where the worker is allowing everyone to pass through the line, waving people in with minimal effort? I’m sure you saw it, it went pretty viral. Well, that’s what the Dolphins’ offensive line looks like right now.
Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa couldn’t get anything going against the Colts, completing 14-of-23 passes for 114 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions while getting sacked three times. This was despite the fact that this game came vs a defense that wasn’t exactly highly touted. What’s going to happen when they have a more challenging matchup? Miami is Already Dealing with Injuries
After Hill missed most of camp with an oblique and calf injury, he was able to suit up for this game. However, the former Kansas City Chiefs star had a brief trip to the medical tent after getting tackled in the third quarter. While there’s no concern that Hill will miss Week 2, it’s discouraging to see him already banged up so soon after getting back in the lineup.
The good news is that stud running back De’Von Achane was a full-go after nursing a calf injury towards the end of preseason, but this is a lingering ailment that could flare up at any point. What happens if this team – which already struggled at full strength – is forced to play without Hill and Achane?
Expect Dolphins to Sell at Trade Deadline
It’s no secret that Hill is one of the most likely stars to be traded at the deadline. If the Dolphins keep up this abysmal play, you can bet that he’ll be on a new team sooner rather than later. Looking at the Dolphins schedule, they’ve got the Patriots, Bills, Jets, Panthers, and Chargers in their next five games. It wouldn’t surprise me to see a 2-4 start after this stretch.
That could be enough for the team to move on from Hill, as they try to accumulate assets for a rebuild. If that happens, we could see more moves from the team because why stop there? Might as well get as many draft picks as possible in that scenario.
