William Hill has launched a top priced guaranteed offer on the upcoming heavyweight title fight between Anthony Joshua and Kubrat Pulev. The British boxer will put his WBA, IBF, WBO, and IBO belts on the line against IBF mandatory challenger Pulev at the SSE Arena in London on December 12.
Joshua regained his belts by beating Andy Ruiz Jr. in a rematch last December. This will be his first title defence since that bout. He is the heavy favourite to win the fight, currently priced at 1/10 with William Hill, while Pulev is the 13/2 underdog.
William Hill’s best odds guaranteed promotion on round betting will see it compare prices with those on offer at Bet365, Paddy Power, BetVictor, SkyBet, Ladbrokes, Coral and Betfred. It will then ensure it matches or beats the best price on offer at any of those sites. This promotion applies to round betting, which allows punters to predict the round in which a particular fighter will win.
The current favourite is Joshua on points at 7/2 with Betfred, followed by Joshua in round four, Joshua in round five and Joshua in round six, which are each priced at 10/1. The rank outsider is Pulev in round one, which is priced at 125/1. You can hedge your bets by covering multiple rounds in this market.
There is also great value on offer for total rounds betting. William Hill has a market leading 8/11 on under 7.5 rounds, while Betfair and Paddy Power are offering 11/10 on over 7.5 rounds. You can gain higher odds by pushing it to under 6.5 rounds, which is even money with Bet365. Paddy Power has 5/6 on over 6.5 rounds.
Joshua put in a cautious and conservative performance to beat Ruiz via a decision last year. He did not take unnecessary risks, he kept the Mexican fighter at bay with his jab and ended up securing a comprehensive points victory. Pulev has only lost once in 29 professional fights – a Wladimir Klitschko knocked him out in 2014 – so he will be a formidable opponent for Joshua.
Of his 28 wins, 14 have gone the distance. Just two of Joshua’s 23 wins have come by decision, but he his last six fights have gone over 6.5 rounds, so that 5/6 on offer at Paddy Power could be an appealing bet.
Joshua is priced at 2/5 with William Hill to win the fight by knockout and 7/2 with Betfair to win the fight by decision. Pulev is 9/1 to secure a knockout and 22/1 to win on points. William Hill has 2/7 on the fight not going the distance, and Bet365 has 3/1 on it going the full 12 rounds.
A thousand fans will be allowed to watch the fight live at the SSE Arena next Saturday, with tickets costing £100 to £1,000. The UK government relaxed its regulations on fans watching live sport over the past week after Covid-19 case levels decreased. Some Premier League teams welcomed up to 2,000 fans for their games this weekend.
“I can’t tell you how happy I am to see fans returning to our live boxing events,” said Eddie Hearn, managing director of Matchroom Sport, Joshua’s promoter. “Whilst the team have done an incredible job over the last 10 months we live and breathe through the energy and atmosphere that a live crowd generates.
“It’s so fitting that they can return for an AJ fight, when through the last few years he has broken all kinds of attendance records in the U.K. and beyond. This is such a positive move for boxing and all sport. Welcome back!”
