It promises to be an extremely exciting week ahead for sports betting fans as we can look forward to some massive football matches and Europe’s richest horse race. Arsenal are in Europa League action, the bid to win promotion to the Premiership rages on and the NBA and NHL playoffs get underway. Here are the biggest events of the week and where best to bet on them at BMR’s green-listed bookmakers:

Champions League

The quarter-final second leg ties take place this week, and when all is said and done there will be just four teams left standing. Liverpool, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Sevilla all have one foot in the semi-finals after winning their first leg ties, and it simply remains for each to see out the job. Liverpool enjoy a 3-0 aggregate lead over Man City after producing a superb performance at Anfield last week, and they are just 1/7 with Green-Listed Bookmakers to qualify for the semis. They can afford to lose this game and still progress, so a Man City win looks interesting and Unibet has the best price: 10/21. For more value, Sky Bet and Bet Stars have 11/10 on Man City and under 4.5 goals.

Barcelona are 4-1 up against Roma and should cruise through. They still have enough talent to win this second leg, and Marathon Bet has the best odds (4/6). Marathon is less established than some of its rivals and typically offers more competitive prices in a bid to win new customers. There is little value available in the Bayern Munich game, but Cristiano Ronaldo to score at any time as Real Madrid aim to finish the job against Juventus looks good. He is best priced at 6/7 with Unibet and 888 Sports to score at any time, which is a great set of odds when you consider that most bookmakers will only go to 4/6 or 6/10.

Defeat at the hands of Wolves has left Cardiff in danger of missing out on the second automatic promotion spot to the Premiership. They take on Aston Villa on Tuesday night, and they are in desperate need of a win. Marathon Bet is once again offering the best odds on Aston Villa, who are fourth in the table, while Unibet has the best price on Cardiff.

Grand National

More than 500 million people across the world to watch this epic 4-mile, 514-yard steeplechase, which takes in 30 fences over two laps of the famous racecourse at Aintree. It goes off at 5:15pm UK time on Saturday and it promises to be the biggest betting event of the year. As always, there is an enormous field of long-distance chasers for you to choose from, and bookmakers will compete to offer the best prices, bonuses and offers. Sun Bets and Betfair are offering competitive prices, as are William Hill, Paddy Power and Coral. If you are looking for a long each-way shot, Bet Victor pays out a fifth of the odds on any horse finishing in the top six, while all other bookmakers will only go to four or five runners.

Europa League

Arsenal and Atletico Madrid enjoy comfortable aggregate leads in their quarter-final clashes, so they do not need to win, but they are extremely well priced to do so against opposition they thrashed last week. Green-Listed Bookmakers are offering between 10/11 and evens on Arsenal, while Marathon is sneaking a fraction by offering 51/50. It also has 10/11 on Atletico, while the likes of Ladbrokes and Coral are offering 5/6. It might be worth backing these teams sooner rather than later if you fancy them to win, as those odds are likely to shorten.

Top Five Leagues

The big game in the Premiership sees Tottenham take on Man City on Saturday and, given City’s poor recent form, a Spurs home win looks attractive. Bet Victor, Bet365 and Unibet have 6/4, while another up and coming bookmaker, Black Type, is offering a market leading 8/5. Serie A hopefuls Napoli are evens to win away at AC Milan on Sunday, while a heavyweight clash in Spain sees Barcelona host Valencia. Barca are heavy favourites, but they may be tired from their trip to Rome and all the action is going on the draw, which is 5/1 with Paddy Power, Betway and 888 Sport.

The NBA playoffs get underway at the weekend and the in-form Houston Rockets, led by MVP frontrunner James Harden, look a good bet to end Golden State’s dominance. The Rockets are best priced at 17/10 with Bet365 to win the NBA Championship. The NHL playoffs also begin this week and the Toronto Maple Leafs are attracting a lot of betting action at long odds. 888 Sport is offering the best price of 13/1 on them. The prices on these teams will drop as they progress in the playoffs, and a lot of antepost action will take place as they rage on.
