UK Horse Racing Set to Return on Monday

UK horse racing returns after a lengthy absence on Monday and 888 Sport has launched an enticing promotion to tie in with the event. Punters are looking forward to a stacked 10-race card at Newcastle tomorrow as the 2020 flat season finally gets underway. Bet £10 on the first race of the day and 888 Sport will give you a £5 free bet on each of the next seven races on the card. All the leading online bookmakers are offering odds on the first eight races at Newcastle on Monday, but 888 Sport stands out thanks to its attractive bonus offer. The promotion is limited to new customers, and your qualifying £10 bet must go on a horse with odds of at least 1/2 (1.50). You will then unlock seven free £5 bets for a total of £35.

Betway sponsors the racing at Newcastle on Monday and it is offering a promotion called Yankee Special for its customers. Place a £1 Yankee bet for a total stake of £11 – choose four horses in different races and place six doubles, four trebles and a four-fold accumulator – and Betway will give you a £5 free bet. New and existing customers can claim this promotion. If you do not have a Betway account, you can take advantage of its bet £10 get £30 sign-up offer. Deposit £10 in a new account and you will receive £30 credit. There is a minimum odds requirement of 3/4 (1.75). Racing will take place across the UK on an ongoing basis from Monday, and the Yankee Special applies on all meetings this week. The Guineas Festival will be held at Newmarket next weekend, while jumps racing in Ireland is set to resume on June 22 and the Belmont Stakes will be held in New York on June 20.

British betting shops could reopen in time for Royal Ascot after Prime Minister announced that “non-essential” retail stores could welcome customers from June 15. “We are well prepared to open some of our shops in June and will be following the Covid-19 secure guidance,” said Ladbrokes Coral owner GVC. The Betting and Gaming Council added: “With racing returning soon, we welcome the fact that betting shops across the country will be able to open their doors again on June 15. Our members are working hard to prepare shops for reopening and to ensure a safe environment for customers with social distancing and hygiene measures in place. Bookies employ nearly 50,000 hard-working staff, who have all played their part in the national effort to combat the spread of Covid-19, and we now look forward to providing customers with the best possible experience as lockdown eases.”

The Premier League has also announced that the action will resume on June 17 following a 100-day hiatus. Man City will host Arsenal at The Etihad on the first day back, while Aston Villa will take on Sheff Utd as they bid to climb out of the relegation zone. It will mark the end of a fraught period in which many fans feared the season would be abandoned, as was the case in France and the Netherlands. Bookmakers are now offering futures betting odds on the Premier League again. Liverpool will cruise to the title, but there is plenty of value on the battle for a top four finish. William Hill has 8/13 on Chelsea finishing in the top four, but Man Utd were on fire before the break and they look well priced at 7/4 to gatecrash the part. If you fancy a real long shot, Paddy Power has 17/1 on Arsenal. Bournemouth are 5/6 favourites to be relegated along with Norwich and Aston Villa, but you can find 3/1 on a Brighton side that have not won a single game in 2020.
