UFC Women's Strawweight Bout
UFC in Vegas 13 takes place on Saturday, 7th November, 2020 UFC Apex Centre in Las Vegas
This weekend's strawweight bout will see a striker versus grappler matchup, a 2nd-degree black belt in Claudia Gadelha will no doubt be hunting for a neck when she faces Yan Xiaonan.
Claudia has fought under the UFC banner at the highest level for nearly a decade but has notably lacked in hand speed through the losses she's suffered – a similar attribute she could struggle within this contest.
A win streak in the UFC is hard to come by. Yan Xiaonan is currently riding 5-fight win streak in the UFC and has continued to impress as the level of competition has raised.
The Chinese athlete landed strikes at a 3 to 1 rate versus Karolina Kowalkiewicz in her previous bout, great footwork, and a high output of strikes is the game she likes to play.
This fight could be the sleeper fight of the night matchup, for the ground skills that Gadelha possesses we should not forget the power she packs behind her punches. With that said, I still anticipate the grappling game to be the plan for Gadelha, while Yan will be looking to strike and move.
Through the three, five-minute rounds, I favour the striker in taking her game to the next level. The submission threat will be present with the possibility that Yan could give up a-round. But the cardio of Claudia does not have the longevity to provide her with a relentless grappling offence.

The heavy hitter from Brazil 'Rogerio De Lima' has made it incredibly difficult to gauge a level on his ability, alternating his wins and losses since his UFC debut. If we are paying attention to that trend, coming off a win means De Lima is ready for another loss, but MMA math is not the wise method to approach.
De Lima holds a BJJ black belt, but with 12 of his career wins ending via knockout, you would never know. An unpredictable character as De Lima does not transcend into a money-making machine, if anything, De Lima is the ideal candidate to bet against in the right positions.
The undefeated Moldovan has sailed through his twelve-fight MMA career, he is yet to be formally introduced to MMA judges and could be a knockout or two away from title contention.
The most prominent strong point for Romanov is the athleticism he poses in the heaviest division, flying knees and spin attacks may leave you confused. Still, his in-octagon creativity could breed a future UFC star. Along with a versatile striking offence, Romanov has the grappling chops and submission threat to match.
It's hard to visualise a confident game plan for De Lima; I genuinely believe he loses the fight standing or on the ground. For De Lima to win, he will need to catch Romanov with those heavy hands or perhaps a surprise submission off his back. I doubt he will take the Moldovan down with ease and will lack significantly in the speed department.
Romanov has an excellent submission record which opens up some great value in the knockout market, +225 is a price I refuse to ignore in a fight I believe has the greater chance of ending through ground and pound situation more so than a submission path.
