Vandeweghe vs. Pliskova
Coco Vandeweghe couldn’t have asked for a better start of clay court season. The 26-year-old was given a wild card by the tournament after missing the deadline. Despite Coco’s poor results on clay throughout her career, the world No.16 became the first American player to reach the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix final since Lindsay Davenport in 2006. Looking now at Vandeweghe’s campaign on this event, the New Yorker claimed her third win over a top-10 player this week with a 6 – 4 6 – 2 victory in the semi-finals against Caroline Garcia.
Former world No.1 Karolina Pliskova became the first Czech player to reach the final in Stuttgart. The No.5 seed produced her best performance of the week to take down Anett Kontaveit in just 65 minutes. Pliskova ended the match with 22 winners, including six aces, to only nine unforced errors. Adding to this, the 26-year-old didn’t face a single break point throughout the entire match.
These two players will face each other for the 6th time in their careers with Vandeweghe winning three of their previous five official meetings on the WTA Tour.
This should be a very interesting contest between two of the most powerful players in the game. The bookmakers expect a very close encounter with Pliskova as the slight favourite at 83/100 at Pinnacle while 5Dimes offers 23/20 for Coco’s victory. Despite Vandeweghe’s brilliant run in Stuttgart, it won’t be easy for the American to overcome such a dangerous opponent as Pliskova. On the other hand, the Czech won their previous encounter on clay at the 2017 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix. With this in mind, our suggestion is for you to place a bet on Karolina’s moneyline at 83/100 at green listed bookmaker Pinnacle.
