Ryder Cup

Europe and the United States will lock horns Friday through Sunday at Le Golf National in Paris to contest the 2018 Ryder Cup. Tempers flared at the last biennial tournament, as the U.S. ended the Europeans’ long winning streak by clinching an emphatic victory. They are blessed with an extremely talented crop of young superstars, including Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka, Patrick Reed and Rickie Fowler, plus exciting wild cards Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson, so they deserve their status as favourites, priced at 5/6 with Bet365. But the Americans have not won on European soil since 1993, so they will need a big performance to see off the likes of Justin Rose, Rory McIlroy, Francesco Molinari, Jon Rahm and Tommy Fleetwood. The Europeans will be desperate for revenge and they are 11/8 with Unibet, Coral, Betfred, Betway and 888 Sport to gain it. It promises to be a thrilling few days, and you can bet on the result, correct score, top American, top European, top wild card, top debutant, handicaps and a huge range of special markets on things like hole in ones and total halved matches.

Giant killings could be all the rage when the EFL Cup returns this week. On Tuesday, Oxford are 25/1 to pick up a home win against the mighty Man City, while Derby County are 1/5 with William Hill to win at Old Trafford. But the biggest game sees Premiership pace setters Liverpool and Chelsea lock horns at Anfield. Both sides are likely to rest key stars, so it will be a good opportunity for squad players like Olivier Giroud, Daniel Sturridge and Xhedan Shaqiri to shine and stake a claim for a regular starting berth. Both teams to score looks interesting at 11/17 with Sportingbet.

Just three days later, Chelsea and Liverpool will meet again, this time at Stamford Bridge, in what could prove to be an early title decider. Arsenal host Watford, Man Utd travel to West Ham, Everton take on Fulham and Spurs visit Huddersfield. Man City are in rampant form and they should take Brighton apart, while Newcastle will be desperate for a first win of the season when they host Leicester. Wolves v Southampton looks like a snooze fest, as does Cardiff v Burnley. Anyone interested in an acca bet might consider lumping Arsenal, Everton, Spurs and Man City together in a four-fold.

La Liga and Serie A

Real Madrid travel to Sevilla on Wednesday night in the pick of the week’s La Liga action. Sky Bet has 3/4 on Gareth Bale and co picking up an away win against the struggling Sevilla, and that looks sure to be a popular bet. Juventus host Bologna on Wednesday night, and Juventus to win to nil looks great at 3/4 with Ladbrokes.

Asia Cup

The Asia Cup rumbles on and Pakistan should fancy their chances of securing a comfortable victory when they take on Bangladesh on Wednesday. The Pakistanis are 6/4 second favourites with Boyle Sports to win the cup, but India look like a solid bet at 4/6 as they have excelled thus far.

China Championship

Snooker’s finest stars are battling it out for glory in China, and John Higgins is the 11/2 favourite with Marathon Bet. However, a lot of betting action is going on local stars Yan Bingtao (80/1), Ding Junhui (12/1) and Marco Fu (40/1), while Stuart Bingham (40/1) and Barry Hawkins (14/1) are also popular selections.
