Roma-Shakhtar Matchup To Be Plenty Entertaining

Soccer: Best Bets Across Tuesday and Wednesday, Round 16 (Second Leg)

With the Champions League playing more round-of-16 games Tuesday and Wednesday, I've picked out three bets that I think stand a good chance of winning and that also have value.

Roma vs. Shakhtar Donetsk

Tuesday's match is probably going to be very entertaining, even if it doesn’t have one of the “bigger” sides in it. Shakhtar lost their first game back after the winter break but overall they’ve been in excellent form on both sides of their little holiday. Roma hasn’t been very reliable, and while they do have some excellent players they are going to have to push for the goal that will see them qualify in this one. I’m OK with a tight game, even if I’m expecting both sides to score. In fact, a tight game suits me and my bet well, as I’ve plumped for Shakhtar Donetsk +0.5 in the Asian Handicap market at 2.29 with Pinnacle (green-listed bookmaker).

Manchester United vs. Sevilla

I can’t see this being a game for anything other than fans of both sides. Although I’m expecting Tuesday's match to be quite tactical, I think we could see at least one goal scored from a mistake. Personally, I‘m hoping it’s a Sevilla goal first, not because I want them to go through but because I want "Both Teams To Score" and I think Manchester United will shut the game right down if they score first. You can get that at evens with William Hill (green-listed bookmaker).

Besiktas vs. Bayern Munich

I think it’s safe to say that after a 5-0 loss last time out, Besiktas’s turkey is well and truly cooked in this one Wednesday. Frankly, I’m expecting Bayern Munich to take that lead and build on it, producing the kind of display and result that marks them out as proper Champions League contenders. Besiktas may be big fish in their domestic league but this competition is one step too far from them, especially after selling their most likely source of goals in the summer. I’m going for Bayern Munich -1.5 in this one and I suspect they will cover that handicap quite easily. You can back that at 2.49 with Pinnacle (green-listed bookmaker).

I think all three of those bets have some value to them. And as always, I’d be happy to come out of these games with a little extra profit.
