Paddy Power Launches PDC World Championship Promotion

Paddy Power Tempts Darts Fans

Paddy Power is giving punters £40 in free bets if they sign up for an account and wager £10 on the PDC World Championship. The big darts tournament is already underway at Alexandra Palace in London and it runs until January 3.

Big names like Michael van Gerwen, Gerwyn Price and defending champion Peter Wright are still going strong. There is action on a daily basis for darts fans to enjoy.

To qualify for Paddy Power’s bonus, you can bet on any market and any match, provided the odds are at least 1/2 (1.50). Paddy Power makes van Gerwent the 7/4 favourite to win the tournament, followed by Wright at 6/1, Price at 13/2 and Dimitri van der Bergh at 10/1. Van Gerwen, Wright and Price are all chasing the world number one ranking, so it should be an exciting couple of weeks.

Betfair Boosts Altior Odds

Betfair is offering boosted odds of 30/1 on legendary chaser Altior winning the Desert Orchid Chase at Kempton on Sunday. Nicky Henderson’s dual Champion Chase hero was last seen winning the Grade 2 The Game Spirit Chase at Newbury in November. He is now ready to make his bow for the new National Hunt season, and he is the heavy favourite to win the Desert Orchid Chase on day two of the Christmas Festival at Kempton.

Betfair will boosted the odds from 8/13 to 30/1 on a win for Altior. The maximum stake permitted at those boosted odds is £1. You have to register for a Betfair account and make an initial deposit using a debit card or Apple Pay in order to qualify.

Irish contenders Put The Kettle On and Sizing Pottsie were ruled out due to a travel ban imposed by the Irish government. That leaves Duc Des Genievres and Rouge Vif as Altior’s main rivals.

The meeting got underway yesterday, and Bryony Frost rode Frodon to victory in the King George VI Chase. That made her the first female jockey to win the race, which is considered the second most prestigious of the season, after the Cheltenham Gold Cup. Waiting Patiently was second, and Clan Des Obeaux could only finish third as he sought to win the race for the third year in a row.

William Hill Increases Latvian Presence

William Hill has launched its Mr Green brand in Latvia after gaining a license from the Lotteries and Gambling Supervisory Inspection. It already runs the site, which it said is the second biggest operator in the Latvian market. William Hill is now bolstering its presence in the Baltic nation by launching, after it purchased the brand in 2019.

“We aim to leverage the award-winning brand that Mr Green is in combination with our know-how of growing the business in the Latvian market,” said Janis Tregers, chief executive for Latvian operations. “Though 2020 has been a challenging year for everyone, we see great underlying growth potential for online casino entertainment. We have used it to develop what we feel is a great and competitive product.”

Patrick Jonker, managing director at William Hill International and chief executive of Mr Green, added: “Combining the local competence from our Latvian team, a strong product and brand, allows us to confidently look forward at doubling our presence in the Latvian market.

“Of course, we are also excited to be using the Green Gaming framework to further solidify our group's leadership in the responsible gaming area of our business.”

Betfred Expands Into Pennsylvania

British bookmaker Betfred has expanded its US footprint by launching an online sports betting platform in Pennsylvania. Last month it opened a land-based sportsbook at the Wind Creek Casino in Bethlehem, PA. Now it has launched an online book too.

Online wagering accounts for more than 90% of all sports betting in Pennsylvania. It is the third largest sports betting market in the country, after New Jersey and Nevada.

“We’re excited to formally launch online sports wagering in Pennsylvania with our partners at Wind Creek Hospitality following the successful launch of the retail sportsbook earlier this fall,” said Bryan Bennett, chief operating officer at Betfred USA. “We look forward to bringing over a decade of online bookmaking experience to the Commonwealth and delivering the best sports betting experience to Wind Creek guests.”

Ken Rohman, chief marketing officer of Wind Creek Hospitality, added: “Launching the online sportsbook provides a dynamic element to our online gaming experience that enables our guests to engage with us and play from anywhere they like while in PA without requiring any travelling. We are proud to add online sports betting to the Wind Creek Casino online portfolio, and close out 2020 with yet another offering for our valued Guests.”
