European Parliament's committee adopts Fox report on online gambling

The European Parliament’s Internal Market and Consumer Protection committee adopted the report on online gambling authored by Ashley Fox, a MEP representing South West England, which includes Gibraltar, for the Conservative Party and the European Conservatives and Reformists political group.

The Fox report was drafted in February 2013 calling for EU-wide online gambling policies, but later in April received 425 amendments that re-established gambling as a matter to be regulated at national level according to different cultures and traditions, while encouraging cooperation between Member States, especially in areas such as consumer protection, problem gambling and the prevention of money laundering.

The European Parliament is scheduled to vote on the amended report in the plenary sitting in July.
