Premier League

Burnley vs. Manchester United

Tuesday 12th January, 08:15 PM Kick-Off

Turf Moor

Away Form

Manchester United are riding one of their best seasons since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson back in 2013, and with their away-form remaining solid a trip to Burnley shouldn’t be an issue, right? Well think again, Burnley are not sat at the top of the division, but their recent form is one of the best in the league.

Burnley have won four, drawn two and lost two across their last eight and Manchester United are one of the only clubs who can exceed that record (won six, lost two). The Clarets have turned the early season drought into a challenging mid-season effort, and although Ole Gunnar has provided results away from home, they have been open goal-scoring affairs.

Form, Mentality, EPL Odds and Trends

  • Manchester United have avoided defeat in twenty-seven of their previous thirty EPL fixtures.

  • Burnley are unbeaten in six or their previous seven games in all competitions.

  • Manchester United found success in their previous four away trips to Burnley, winning them all.

  • Manchester United kept a clean sheet in their previous five visits to Burnley in all competitions.

  • Manchester United have won 15 of their previous 19 away matches.

Final Thoughts| EPL Betting Tips

My first thoughts were leaning towards the ‘both teams to score’ betting market, but with United’s fight for the title and strong performances of late it is hard to ignore the chances of the Red Devils claiming victory.

With key defenders missing from the squad (Eric Bailly, Victor Lindelof & Luke Shaw), Burnley should have the confidence to bag a goal against the weakened back four. With that said, I still believe United can collect all three points.

The available odds for United to win are naturally low given their impressive away record, but you’ll notice that over 3.5 goals have landed in 100% of those same away games.

Burnley vs. Manchester United Score prediction: Burnley 1 – Manchester United 3

English Premier League

Sheffield United vs. Newcastle

Tuesday 12th January, 06:00 PM Kick-Off

Bramall Lane

Sheffield United Breaking the Worst Records

In one hundred and eighteen years of the English Premier League no club has failed to win from their opening seventeen games, that was until 2021. Sheffield United have had the most embarrassing season in EPL history (next to Bolton in 1902 with 22 losses) and are currently feared by nobody.

The good news, at least a 3-2 win over league one team Bristol Rovers gave Sheffield at the least, a minor flow of success. The Blades are in trouble and the nine points needed to escape the relegation zone seem a lifetime away with this terms results.

Newcastle isn’t high-flying this season by any means, but they’re seventeen points better than the opposition this week and should feel comfortable travelling anywhere to face Sheffield United. They’re faced with the lowest scoring team in the league who’re the only squad without a clean sheet in the 2020/2021 season thus far.

Form, Mentality, EPL Odds and Trends

  • In their previous twenty-one EPL fixtures, Sheffield have won a mere one game.

  • Sheffield have failed to score in six or their last 9 home fixtures.

  • Newcastle have defeated Sheffield in their last five meetings.

Final Thoughts| EPL Betting Tips

Historically this meeting favours Newcastle, and if we consider that Sheffield’s form is the worst in recent years we can expect a three-point collection for the Magpies.

With that said, this is still a Newcastle squad who have stumbled on their own bad fortune this term. When looking at the betting market we’ll take some insurance to cover our back because completely trusting Newcastle could bite back.
