Tsarukyan, 26, is one of the UFC lightweight division’s youngest bright prospects. Incredibly, he made his promotional debut at the tender fighting age of 22 versus the current 145lb champion Islam Majáchev. He notably made a great account of himself despite losing the bout.
Four years and eight fights later, Tsarukyan is the top-ranked UFC lightweight, and his only other loss, against Mateusz Gamrot, was a questionable judge’s decision that most MMA media outlets and critics scored in his favor.
