This is a rematch from two nights ago when the Knights skated away to a 4-1 win over the Wild in Sin City. The teams are the same but the venue has changed for this one as the Wild will be in front of the fan friendlies for this marquee matchup between two teams clinging to the top spot in their respective divisions.
Entering Monday night’s game against Minnesota, Vegas had won 9 of their last 13 games but a bitter 4-3 overtime loss in San Jose against the lowly Sharks gave the Knights something to think about as they prepared to take on the class of the Central Division.
Road Dogs
Meanwhile, the Wild had won five of six before they bowed to the Knights for the second time this season, with the first being a 5-1 loss to Vegas on February 9th at the Xcel Energy Center, the same arena in which the two will square off on Monday night.
The oddsmakers have made the Knights +120 road dogs in the early lines on this matchup and I’m trying to figure out why this isn’t more of a coin flip. Vegas has defeated Minnesota in both games they have played this season by a combined score of 9-2 which makes betting on the Golden Knights even more appetizing.

Nashville Predators vs. Dallas Stars

Both of these teams have something to fight for with the Predators trying desperately to elbow their way into a wild card spot while the Stars are within a whisper of first place in the Pacific Division, tied with the Avalanche for second place, and trailing the Wild by a mere point.
We can look back and see that the Stars have defeated the Predators in their two previous games this season, the first by a score of 5-1 back in October while the most recent was a 3-2 squeaker in December. Both teams own decent defensive units and solid goaltending but the Stars have the scoring punch that the Predators lack.
Killing the Power Play
And if Nashville believes they will be able to take advantage when in man-advantage situations they better think again as the Stars are one of the best in the business in extinguishing power plays. Moreover, the Predators don’t have much of a power play unit, to begin with, so they better get lucky on even-man scenarios, otherwise, they will meet the same fate they have met twice so far this season against Dallas.
While I am not fond of laying the big lumber, I don’t believe the Preds have a chance in this one. If the Stars were etched in their playoff position, I might take a flier on the underdog, hoping that Dallas would rest their key players. But that is not the case as the Stars need this one desperately and I doubt we will see them take Nashville for granted.
