Rutgers Scarlet Knights vs. Penn State Nittany Lions

Saturday, November 18, 2023 – 12:00 PM ET at Beaver Stadium

Our AI Model believes Rutgers will drop Saturday’s game, 31-22 on Saturday. However, as 19.5-point underdogs, Rutgers would easily cover with a score like that.

Will Rutgers Cover the Spread?

The Rutgers Scarlet Knights looked horrible in their last game against Iowa. The offense couldn’t move the ball at all against Iowa’s defense.

But the same could be said for Penn State. The Nittany Lions just faced Michigan and struggled to move the ball down the field, more than Rutgers did against Michigan earlier in the year.

Penn State has the advantage on both ends of the field with home field. But can the offense even muster up 20 points to cover a 19.5-point spread against Rutgers in the first place?

The Nittany Lions gained 238 yards and only converted on four third downs against Michigan. They also averaged just 3.2 yards per pass while gaining 4.7 yards per play on the ground. That’s just not going to cut it.

The Pick

For Penn State, this type of output has happened multiple times. For Rutgers against Iowa, this was the first game where the offense was challenged offensively and couldn’t run the ball.

I’m going to take the Scarlet Knights to cover against a Penn State offense that just fired its offensive coordinator.

Utah Utes vs. Arizona Wildcats

Saturday, November 18, 2023 – 02:30 PM ET at Arizona Stadium

Our AI Model believes Arizona will escape Utah at home with a 26-19 win as a pick-em. This is an important Pac-12 matchup between two ranked opponents.

A Pac-12 Clash of Ranked Titans

The Utah Utes might be 7-3 on the year, but this team hasn’t been nearly like the previous two seasons. The Utes won back-to-back Pac-12 Championships. But the offense has struggled to find answers consistently without Cam Rising at quarterback.

The Utes added 28 points against Washington last weekend in an upset bid. But they fell short, 35-28. Utah has lost two of its last three games against Oregon and Washington. But it’s clear that those two teams are the best teams in the Pac-12.

Still, Arizona’s on a four-game winning streak with massive wins that include Oregon State and UCLA. The Wildcats have a gem at quarterback in Noah Fifita, who has a QBR of 79.5 with 16 touchdowns and four interceptions on the year.

Even the running game has been electric behind Jonah Coleman. He’s averaged 7.2 yards a carry on over 100 carries this season.

Beyond that, Utah is known for its defense. But Arizona’s defense compares pretty evenly across the board with the Utes.

The Pick

Utah’s better in the pass game, while Arizona is better at defending the run. But while Arizona is a balanced offense, the Utes need the run game to succeed. Arizona’s solid against the run Let’s take Arizona to win the game outright.

North Carolina Tar Heels vs. Clemson Tigers

Saturday, November 18, 2023 – 03:30 PM ET at Memorial Stadium

The AI Model suggests Clemson will knock off North Carolina 31-29. But with the Tar Heels sitting at +7, North Carolina has the edge.

North Carolina’s Offensive Arsenal

The North Carolina Tar Heels earned a 47-45 double-overtime win against the Duke Blue Devils last weekend. Tar Heels knew it would have to battle against a rival opponent like Duke and found a way to get the job done.

They’ll take on a Clemson team that has won two straight games after taking two straight losses. The Clemson Tigers won over Notre Dame and Georgia Tech at home. They’ll stay at home against North Carolina.

However, North Carolina has the toughest offense that they’ll face all season. The Tar Heels are led by Drake Maye, who has thrown for 21 touchdowns and only six interceptions. While the passing game has been terrific, the run game should be even better. Maye can run, but Omarion Hampton has been the main guy on the ground.

Hampton has rushed for 1,236 yards with 13 touchdowns on 206 carries. He’s averaged six yards an attempt, even after rushing more than 200 times this season.

While North Carolina’s secondary can be spotty, the run defense has played well enough. Clemson won’t always beat teams in the passing game. Clemson’s style is to run the football as effectively as possible.

The Pick

But I believe that North Carolina can get off the field a few times and help the offense escape with a win. We’ll ride the +7 against the spread and play it safe. Back North Carolina. The AI Model is onto something.
