Vancouver Canucks vs. Winnipeg Jets

Thursday, April 18, 2024 – 08:00 PM ET at Canada Life Centre

Canadian Rivals Battle It Out for 2nd Place Finish

For both the Vancouver Canucks and Winnipeg Jets it seems like their post-season drama will be kickstarted tonight as both teams battle it out in their final game of the regular season to determine who will finish 2nd overall in the Western Conference.

Coming into tonight’s game just one point separates Vancouver in 2nd (109 Pts) and Winnipeg in 3rd (108 Pts). The only possible way for the Jets to leapfrog Vancouver and get a better playoff seeding is by beating the Canucks tonight on home ice.

Although at the time of writing the winner of tonight’s matchup for 2nd place could end up facing the reigning Stanley Cup champions in round one so maybe the prize isn’t as rewarding as it sounds, on the flip side they could also end up facing much easier opposition in the L.A Kings or Nashville Predators depending on how the results go.

The NHL Pick

If it was set in stone that the winner here faces the Vegas Golden Knights well then we might see the Jets lay down their arms and concede this one to avoid the reigning champions in round one, but seeing as it’s not set in stone its likely both teams will be trying hard to win here and for this reason we like the under 6 line, as we believe this playoff style game will be low scoring.

At the very least we should get a push for six goals as it’s unlikely we will see seven goals scored in this game between the 2nd and 4th best defensive teams in the NHL.
