After yet another exhilarating card filled with many finishes, we did have an outcome in the main event that left most of us speechless and frustrated because we did expect more from it. It was a wonderful performance from both contenders until it no longer was.

Read below for my highlight recap of Brian Ortega vs. Yair Rodriguez

Ortega vs. Rodriguez Odds Recap

Entering fight night, Brian Ortega was the favorite with UFC odds at -180 and the victorious Yair Rodriguez being the most valuable underdog at +155.

In one of my UFC Best Bets, I included this main event because I saw Ortega holding the edge in his grappling, yet I was completely shocked by the overall outcome of Saturday night’s fight.

Ortega vs. Rodriguez Fight Recap

(A Very Short) Round 1

Ortega began the round with a sharp jab and Rodriguez was quick with his right counter. Both seemed confident; Rodriguez with a nice combination of a left hand and then a knee to the face of Ortega.

They’re now up against the cage and Rodriguez has a cut above his eye while Ortega was suffocating him along the fence.

Calmly, Rodriguez used his heel to stop Ortega and land combinations of his own. Another high kick landed; Ortega still holding strong.

Down Goes Ortega

Oh no! Ortega took Rodriguez to the floor but his shoulder was dislocated in defense of an armbar. The fight was put to a stop due to injury.

What a frustrating way to end the fight, however, I’m sure they will want to run this fight again. I’m looking forward to what Ortega brings to the table.

What’s Next on the UFC Schedule?

Up next on the UFC schedule, we have an exciting card in London, England headlined by two of the most resilient heavyweight fighters in the division at UFC Fight Night: Blaydes vs. Aspinall

Tom Aspinall will have the chance to fight out of his home country and show all contenders and fans his true strengths. But it won’t come easy, as Curtis Blaydes is practically equivalent to a tank capable of wrestling

Inside this hot London card, we also will have the likes of seeing the comical, yet entertaining Paddy Pimblett face-off against contender Jordan Leavitt. Something tells me that Paddy the Baddy is going to put on yet another wonderful show.

This entire card is filled with resilient, growing fighters, so this is definitely a card you do not want to miss.
