Adin Ross is an American internet personality and streamer who has legions of fans.

Before Saturday’s super middleweight championship bout, Ross was touting Canelo Alvarez as his bet of choice. However, after receiving a phone call from an unnamed source, he promptly reversed his wager to Terence Crawford, and the switch paid off big time.

Sound Advice

The boxing world was buzzing with anticipation regarding the latest iteration of the “Fight of the Century” between Canelo Alvarez and undefeated Terence Crawford, battling for the 168-pound super middleweight crown.

Adin Ross, a Kick streamer with an enormous platform, was live on the streaming service during the Alvarez vs. Crawford card and had been touting Alvarez as his pick of choice during the live stream.

However, during the co-main event, he received a call from a supposedly connected source, saying that Crawford, and not Canelo, was the right side. After listening to his source, Ross announced to his audience that he was switching sides and betting on Crawford.

It was reported that Ross had wagered $1 million on the betting favorite, Alvarez, before changing his wager to Crawford.

His audience became suspicious and speculated that the fight was rigged. However, Ross doused those rumors when he addressed them head-on by stating: “All I’m going to say, chat, is I got one of ‘those’ calls.”

Ross added, “They were just like, ‘Listen, we think that if you were to do this [go for Alvarez], it’s going to get bad.’ It’s not rigged, there’s no inside bulls—, I promise you that. But this is what I got told, and I put this on my whole family’s lives.

“I got told that the fight is closer than everyone thinks it is and that the odds if it’s a 50/50 pick ’em fight? You’ve got to go with the higher odds. That’s the real spill, I promise. It’s really a 50/50 fight; that’s the truth.”

Depending on where Ross made his bet on Crawford, he could have gotten the underdog as high as +140, but the odds began to tumble on Canelo as the bout drew closer, with sharp money coming in on Crawford.

What’s Next for Crawford?

Terence Crawford is now a very wealthy man, having made an estimated $50 million for his victory over Canelo Alvarez, which includes his $10 million purse plus pay-per-view percentages and bonuses.

Alvarez is reported to have earned somewhere in the vicinity of $150 million despite his unanimous decision loss.

But now the boxing public is clamoring for another super-fight, and this time Crawford is expected to put his pristine 42-0 record as well as his WBA (Super), WBC, IBF, WBO, and The Ring super middleweight titles on the line when he tangles with another undefeated superstar, David Benavidez, who holds the WBA light heavyweight and WBC light heavyweight titles.

Benavidez is nine years younger than the 37-year-old Crawford and would tower above him, being six inches taller and fighting at 175 pounds, seven pounds heavier than the super middleweight category. However, Crawford moved up to the super middleweight category to fight Alvarez, and should the fight take place, it would likely be at 168 pounds.
