At the end of the June 11 meeting, the State Gambling Commission published a blacklist of online bookmakers that target players in Bulgaria without a local license.
In 2012, Bulgaria amended its gambling laws introducing a requirement for gambling operators offering their products in the country to hold a Bulgarian gambling license and pay a 15 per cent tax on turnover.
The blacklist includes Bet365, Goldbet, BetIn, Sportingbet, Morganbet, BetUniq, PlanetWin365, Unibet, Bet-at-Home, Doxxbet, EFbet, Globet, Ladbrokes, Betfair, Offsidebet, Tempobet, 888, BetFred, Jetbull, Bet7Days.
In the official document announcing the creation of the blacklist, the State Gambling Commission says unlicensed gambling operators based offshore can easily disappear with player deposits as well as their personal details and credit card numbers, which can be used for identity theft and other illegal uses.
Bulgaria’s State Gambling Commission is now expected to order the country's internet service providers to block access to the blacklisted websites.
