Hard Rock Guitar Tower Resets Vegas Skyline
In a city of glitz, glamour, and neon lights, it can be difficult to steal attention, but the Hard Rock Casino Las Vegas, being built at the midway point of the famed Las Vegas Strip, is doing just that. Although the brand’s signature guitar tower is not finished, it does rise a staggering 700 feet from the ground and is emblematic of the massive nature of the Strip’s newest addition.
The Hard Rock Las Vegas & Guitar Hotel is being constructed on the grounds of the old Mirage, a Steve Wynn creation brought to life in 1989 and ultimately sold by MGM Resorts International to Hard Rock in 2022 for $1.1 billion. But that was just the acquisition fee; the demolition of the popular Mirage, along with its iconic volcano, and construction of the new hotel are reported to be in the $5 billion range.
The guitar tower will be taller than all of its immediate neighbors but just shy of the sky-kissing Fontainebleau, which stands at 729 feet. It is also reported to be the city’s latest technological marvel, according to the Hard Rock Chairman Jim Allen.
“It’s a massive statement,” Allen said of the project. “The technology that we’re going to offer does not exist anywhere in Las Vegas. We believe it’s truly the game-changer.
“There are a few technological things that have come into play that we recently signed. That will be the driver for the final opening date,” Allen said, adding that “we have gone a little crazy with the pools that we’ve designed. It’s not just a day club but truly an ultra-high-end, five-star luxury experience.”

Bullish on Vegas
It is fair to say that a company does not spend $5 billion on a project unless it believes in the local economy. But Las Vegas tourism has been in the news recently, and the words “bustling” and “vibrant” were conspicuously absent. In fact, according to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA), tourism lagged 7.4% in 2025 compared to the previous year.
However, many industry experts attribute that to the cyclical nature of the general economy, of which Las Vegas and the surrounding area are a microcosm. Better times are ahead, many financial analysts predict, for Sin City, and the Hard Rock brand is banking on it.
Joe Lupo, president of Hard Rock Las Vegas, echoed a bullish outlook for America’s gambling mecca, stating, “We are very encouraged about the vitality of the Las Vegas market as we expect continued long-term growth in all business segments. The city continues to redefine itself as existing properties and new entrants continue to invest capital,” he said. “We foresee continued growth and an exciting future for Hard Rock Las Vegas.” As the market continues to expand and evolve, we are always here to help you maximize your bankroll by finding the most competitive odds online and practicing responsible betting habits for a sustainable, enjoyable experience.
