Basharat: The Story So Far
From a dominant victory on Dana White’s Contender Series to an impressive win in his UFC debut, 26-year-old Farid Basharat (10-0-0) has evolved into a bantamweight prospect we need to keep our eyes on.
Behind an unblemished pro-MMA record, Basharat’s success over Da’Mon Blackshear last time out has aged incredibly well. He’s the rightful favorite heading into UFC Paris this weekend with a relentless grappling offense, alongside size, power, and top-notch conditioning at 135 lbs.
Rodrigues: The Story So Far
The current discrepancy in betting odds isn’t a reflection on Kleydson Rodrigues’ (8-2-0) rise to MMA’s top promotion, as he’s 4-1 in his last five pro-bouts and most recently stopped Shannon Ross at UFC 284 inside 60 seconds of the first round.
However, the Brazilian has primarily competed at 125lb. Now, he’s debuting at bantamweight versus a strong and relentless wrestler in Basharat, who owns the ideal skillset to nullify the underdog’s offense.
UFC Paris Basharat vs. Rodrigues: Skillset Breakdown
Cardio, takedown defense, and offense with excellently timed counters and a consistent volume barrage and attacks make Basharat a serious problem for the bantamweight division. He isn’t the most noteworthy puncher, but he does an excellent job of throwing the correct strikes before eventually securing takedowns and taking the fight to the ground where he’s most comfortable.
Rodrigues does have an excellent clinch and will likely be the more diverse striker of the two. But again, the power discrepancy at 135lb, specifically against the power of Basharat, could remove the Brazilian’s most notable offense.
Basharat Moneyline (-310) Reasoning
I expect volume, conditioning, size, and all-around in-cage intelligence and game planning to favor Basharat this weekend. The available odds the top sportsbooks favor him at -310. This may seem steep for a competitor making his second octagon appearance. Still, it’s a justifiable price for one leg of our parlay, especially when the opponent doesn’t hold an experience advantage, with only ten pro bouts of his own.

Yanis Ghemmouri vs. Caolan Loughran Betting Preview
- UFC Paris Bantamweight Bout
Caolan: The Story So Far
Training out of Team Kaobon alongside the likes of UFC heavyweight frontrunner Tom Aspinall, Ireland’s Caolan Loughran (8-0-0) has delivered a dominant and undefeated regional scene record, including a Cage Warriors championship, before earning the recognition of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, where he’ll make his debut appearance for the promotion this weekend in Paris.
Ghemmouri: The Story So Far
French representatives at a high level are short in the UFC, but Yanis Ghemmouri (12-1-0) hopes to buck this trend and join the conversation with established French nationals such as Ciryl Gane and Benoit Saint-Denis.
With just one blemish on his record, Ghemmouri enters the UFC behind a nine-fight win streak, with 5 of those 9 wins ending via submission or KO/TKO.
UFC Paris Caolan vs. Ghemmouri: Skillset Breakdown
Loughran presents crisp boxing fundamentals. And more impressively, unlike many Irish/British fighters, he’s mastered the wrestling aspect of professional mixed martial arts with brutal ground and pound for good measure.
Ghemmouri is well-rounded and owns a considerable size advantage this weekend. From evaluating his regional scene outings, however, he presents some worrying factors, such as hesitancy to engage, that could cost him dearly versus the aggressive Irishman.
Loughran Moneyline (-290) Reasoning
The French native will need to dictate range and keep his opponent at bay to find success. It’s difficult to envision this scenario versus a fighter in Loughran who owns confidence in his boxing that can not only remove the distance but also disguise oncoming takedown attempts.
The available UFC odds have placed Loughran with a large -290 moneyline price, but as the second leg of our parlay, I have enough confidence in the juiced favorite to get the job done convincingly.
