Will Joel Dahmen Be In Full Swing at the Houston Open?

That is the question on the lips of the viewers of Full Swing on Netflix which detailed the struggles of fan-favourite Joel Dahmen. He's featured in series one when they looked at his difficult childhood with his mum sadly passing away and the effect it had on him.

It was his antics at the Phoenix Open last year when he stripped off his shirt on the rowdy iconic par-3 16th with fellow pro Harry Higgs that brought him a cult following. This immediately made the thirty-six-year-old from Clarkson in Washington a hero with the fans as his life story resonates with many.

His relationship with caddy, Geno Bonnalie makes hilarious viewing and Bonnalie has become one of the best-known caddies on the PGA Tour for his interactions with the fans.  The two are often known to share their love of sarcasm and this new series of Full Swing documented their emotional relationship during a flight back after another missed cut in what was a poor season last year.

The emotional mid-air exchange showed Bonnalie pleading with Dahmen to take the help of a sports psychologist citing the difference that one had already made to Wyndham Clark, the US Open champion who featured in the same episode (season 2, episode 3).

Dahmen's Impressive Performance

A year on and a week after the release of the new Full Swing series, Dahmen finished an impressive 11th at TPC Sawgrass in the Players Championship, which if you exclude last year’s Fall Swing events was his best finish since 5th at the RSM Classic in the fall of 2022.

Interestingly, some of Dahmen’s best form has been here at Memorial Municipal Park where he has twice finished in the top 10 on both occasions he has played here.

At BMR, we are more than happy to back Joel Dahmen for a third top 10 finish in succession at this track while adding a bet for what would be a popular long-shot outright win.

Can Alex Noren Win His First PGA Tour Title This Week?

Yes, I believe that Alex Noren could win his first PGA Tour title this week at the Houston Open.

The forty-one-year-old Swede has been flying under the radar in recent months with a slew of solid performances.  Choosing not to play last week’s Valspar Championship after a strong Players Championship was a shrewd move by the Stockholm born golfer because those back-to-back tough weeks will be draining for the players that have done it.

Noren might still be waiting for an overdue first PGA Tour title, but he is a proven closer from the DP World Tour where he has won on ten occasions, many of which were their biggest events, including the flagship PGA Championship at Wentworth.

Given his consistent run of PGA Tour form that included a top 20 finish last time at TPC Sawgrass combined with his 4th place finish here in 2022, there is a solid bet to be had on Noren this week in Texas. I suggest backing Alex Noren for a top 10 finish and outright win at our best sportsbook in Bovada.
