Game one went down better than expected as we predicted a solid defensive effort from Florida to win out the day, they duly done so with a convincing 3-0 victory to cash for us on the moneyline at -125 NHL betting odds.

There is still plenty of games left in the series for the Oilers to mount a comeback but another Florida win on home ice will put them massively on the back foot.

Check out which angle we are betting in this Stanley Cup finals game two.

Edmonton Oilers vs. Florida Panthers

Monday, June 10, 2024 – 08:00 PM ET at Amerant Bank Arena

Oilers to Come Back Swinging

Not only were the Edmonton Oilers defeated in game one, they failed to score a single goal for the first time in the playoffs this season, which we are a little surprised by but at the same time maybe not considering the possible game one nerves and the quality of the opponent when it comes to not allowing goals.

That said, the Oilers will no doubt look to come out swinging in game two and they are very tempting to bet on the moneyline at +120 compared to the Panthers -130, but we are looking at taking a different angle here as we see the possibility of some goals being scored and the line and odds look promising.

Oil Leak Incoming

We know game one saw only three goals scored, but there’s no way the Panthers stop the best attacking team in the league from scoring for two games in a row, and if we want to go back even further, it’s worth noting the Oilers only scored 1 goal against the Panthers in their final regular season meeting, so one goal scored in the previous two games.

The Oilers have nothing to lose now, and they know their best form of defense is attack, although they have done quite well in some of this season’s playoff series by keeping the scores low and winning 3-1 for example, but tonight we are expecting and all or nothing Oil leak.

The Pick

The total line and odds seems soft but fair here, of course many expect the total might go under because of both teams looking to play cautiously, and they could be correct, but we feel the Oilers will come out swinging tonight and look to get as many shots on net as possible.

We are willing to take our chances with the total to go over 5.5 at -110. The Oilers and Panthers have both been averaging a combined 6.6 goals per game throughout these playoffs and the fact both teams previous 7 games combined went under 5.5 goals, it’s about time they let the floodgates open for just one night.

Over 5.5 goals isn’t much to ask, its nowhere near a 6.5 line and with what attackers both teams have on the ice we can see this total hit very easily if we are lucky. Let’s hope for some goals in game two of this Stanley Cup finals.
