We had three games on the card for the opening NHL night, but things are really going to kick off tonight with no less than six games on the slate.

The Leafs, Avalanche, Oilers, Kings, Bruins, and Hurricanes all take to the ice tonight, check out why we like these three NHL bets for Wednesday’s card.

Ottawa Senators vs. Carolina Hurricanes

Wednesday, October 11th, 2023 – 07:00 PM EDT at PNC Arena

Sebastian Aho (Carolina Hurricanes)

One of our pre-season tips to lift the Stanley Cup, the Carolina Hurricanes kick start their camping on home ice tonight against an Ottawa Senators team who will be hoping to upset the party.

Carolina should be strong enough defensively to come away with the victory tonight, but -200 on the moneyline isn’t ideal. Maybe a bet on the under 6.0 at -105 might be worth a look.

That said we are eyeing up a player prop pick in the form of Sebastian Aho. The Finnish center is entering his 8th season in the NHL scoring 218 goals along the way.

The Pick

Despite Aho failing to score in his previous six games against the Ottawa Senators, we are backing Aho to break his Senators goalscoring drought tonight at +110 NHL betting odds.

Aho ended last season as the Hurricanes’ highest goalscorer, having averaged a goal once every 2.05 games, scoring 35 goals in the regular season and 5 in the post-season. The Senators are not the best defensively, and Aho should get chances with service coming from Brent Burns, Seth Jarvis, and Michael Bunting.

Interestingly, Aho has never scored a goal on his first game of each season. Let’s hope to break that trend tonight.

Chicago Blackhawks vs. Boston Bruins

Wednesday, October 11, 2023 – 07:30 PM EDT at TD Garden

Blackhawks Play Back-to-Back Nights

Okay so hold up, the Chicago Blackhawks won last night against the Pittsburgh Penguins on the road, Connor Bedard and co defied the +220 underdog tag and picked up a win on opening night.

Now with that said, as impressive as they looked, the Penguins didn’t do themselves any favors with eight giveaways compared to Chicago’s two. Bedard contributed an assist on the night.

However, Chicago is on a back-to-back tonight, and late into the season that might be a concern, but in these early stages, it might be a positive thing to play two nights in a row.

Chicago has momentum and some confidence on their side, playing two nights in a row will be nothing more than exciting for this group right now. The Boston Bruins are not only a weakened team compared to last season, but they also might be a little rusty and possibly even letting their guard down a little, as it is only the Chicago Blackhawks, after all.

The Pick

Take the road team Chicago to cover the +1.5 PK line at some really nice +100 odds with BetOnline. We believe they might sneak a win (+260 for those interested) so we are more than happy to play them at this spread and would bet it down to as low as -110.

Colorado Avalanche vs. Los Angeles Kings

Wednesday, October 11, 2023 – 10:00 PM EDT at Crypto.com Arena

Adrian Kempe (LA Kings)

The LA Kings and Colorado Avalanche meet tonight in California; an exciting matchup could be in store as these teams have produced some humdingers in the past. The previous four games alone have produced 7/7/9/12 goals in each game.

The Kings’ main shot taker is none other than center Adrian Kempe, who averaged 3.2 shots per game when going back to last season and in just three games against Colorado averaged 5.1 shots per game.

The Pick

You know where we are going with this one. Take Kempe to go over his shot total tonight at -110 at the top sportsbooks. On home ice, Kempe averages slightly more shots per game (0.75 more to be exact).

Kempe is especially dangerous on the powerplay, so the more of those we get the better. It’s opening night, on home ice against the 2022 Stanley Cup champions, and we think Kempe will be up for this one.

NHL Pick: Adrian Kempe Over 3.5 Shots (-110) at BetOnline
