Thursday night means there’s a big NHL card for us to get stuck into and we love these nights, as it allows us to pick and choose the best bets available on our main offshore sportsbooks.

Tonight we are looking to target a strong home victory in Detroit as they play host to the traveling San Jose Sharks.

Elsewhere, we expect a low-scoring affair in Washington and we are backing Anaheim’s joint top goalscorer last season to get back on the scoreboard for the first time in 14 games in Chicago.

San Jose Sharks vs. Detroit Red Wings

Thursday, December 07, 2023 – 07:00 PM ET at Little Caesars Arena

Easy Win Expected For Detroit

The Detroit Red Wings cashed for us in their previous game on the road to Buffalo as road favorites. We are more than happy to get involved with this team again on home ice against one of the worst teams in the NHL right now.

The Sharks are 2-11 on the road this season and only one of those victories came in regulation. That happened to be against the 2nd worst defense in the league (the Sharks have the worst defense in the league) and that game ended 6-3.

This is a Detroit pick, but it’s equally an anti-San Jose pick. The Sharks are to be opposed on the road.

The Pick

The Sharks have a 26th ATS record compared to the Detroit Red Wings, who boast the 2nd-best ATS record in the NHL this season (10-16 for San Jose, compared to 16-8 for Detroit).

We are more than happy to be getting plus-money odds on the Red Wings to cover the spread in this home game. We would happily bet this down to as low as +100, so there’s plenty of value to be had with our current odds at (+120).

Dallas Stars vs. Washington Capitals

Thursday, December 07, 2023 – 08:00 PM ET at Capital One Arena

Don’t Expect Goals When Washington Involved

Both the Dallas Stars and Washington Capitals have a combined record of 31-14 to the under 6.5 total line. To top this off, the Washington Capitals are by far one of the lowest-scoring teams in the league with an overall under 6.5 goals record sitting at 14-8.

Six of the previous seven meetings between these two teams ended with less than 6.5 goals scored, and the previous three games saw just 3/2/5 goals scored in each outing. We cannot see where the goals are going to come from in this game, both defenses are solid, allowing only 5.8 goals per game combined, whilst the Capitals are the 2nd lowest scorers in the league coming in with just 2.25 goals per game.

The Pick

The under 6.0 line at (-120) looks like a good number here and we should be good for a push at the very least if the game ends with six goals. You could take a risk and bet the under 5.5 goals line at (+120), but it might be safer to lay the juice and cover the push with 6.0 goals.

Anaheim Ducks vs. Chicago Blackhawks

Thursday, December 07, 2023 – 08:30 PM EDT at United Center

Troy Terry (Anaheim Ducks)

It’s about time last season’s joint top goalscorer for the Anaheim Ducks got back on the scoreboard, as it’s been 14 games now since Troy Terry last found the back of the net —all this despite having racked up the 3rd most amount of shots this season for the Ducks.

The Chicago Blackhawks allow the 3rd most of goals per game this season, coming in with 3.67, although the Ducks do struggle to score themselves. This looks like a nice value spot for Terry to find the back of the net in this matchup, as both these teams have nothing to lose and a high-scoring game could be on the cards at the United Center.

The Pick

Troy Terry hasn’t been performing as well as last season, but at NHL betting odds of (+180) to find the back of the net for the first time in just over a dozen games is a bet. We are willing to take in this spot.

Terry found the back of the net twice last season against Chicago and will see this as one of his best opportunities to get back on the scoreboard. We like Terry to score here and would bet this number down to +150.
