Ottawa Senators vs. Buffalo Sabres

Thursday, April 13, 2023 – 07:00 PM EDT at KeyBank Center

Sabres Have Something to Fight For

The Buffalo Sabres play their first of two remaining games tonight as they face the Columbus Blue Jackets tomorrow night, they can still finish ahead of both Ottawa and Pittsburgh with a win in both games potentially.

We believe the Sabres will have something to fight for here on home ice, Ottawa has lost 8 of their previous 10 road games and we would be surprised to see them turn up tonight.

Buffalo ranks impressively in attacking force this season with:

  • 3.55 goals per game (4th overall)
  • 23.5% Powerplay (8th Overall)
  • 6 Players to Score 50+ Points
  • 18 Players to Score 10+ Points

Senators Struggle on the Road

Ottawa broke their 0-4 losing streak when they got back on home ice, beating both the Lightning and Hurricanes, but it’s been the road where they have struggled this season going 15-21-4.

Defensively Ottawa have been average this season and very poor on the road in recent games:

  • Allow 3.28 goals per game (12th Worst)
  • Penalty Kill 80% (14th Worst)
  • 16th Most shots against
  • Conceded 4.3 Goals in previous 10 road games

The Pick

The Sabres are on home ice for the final time this season, we don’t know how up for this game Ottawa is going to be, or even if they can cope without their 8 players sidelined with injury.

Buffalo has produced a profit this season when betting on the moneyline having had +7.6 units of profit made, compared to Ottawa who is sitting at -5.7 units for the season.

NHL Pick: Buffalo Sabres ML (-130) at BetOnline

San Jose Sharks vs. Edmonton Oilers

Thursday, April 13, 2023 – 09:00 PM EDT at Rogers Place

Winning Streak vs. Losing Streak

Both these teams come into this game with completely different perspectives. On one hand, we have the San Jose Sharks, who are allowing 3.83 goals per game (4th worst) and have now lost their previous five games, sitting just two points ahead of joint bottom of the conference. Impressively, San Jose does have the 6th best penalty kill this regular season.

Taking a look at Edmonton, they pushed hard toward the end of the season. They can still go level on points with the Golden Knights for the top of the Western Conference with a win tonight and they have ended the regular season as the top scorers averaging 3.95 goals per game.

The Pick

Five of the previous seven games have gone over the total between these two teams, with it being the final game of the season at Rogers Place, the Oilers could likely put on a show, and don’t be surprised if the Sharks grab some goals too.

There’s a reason this line is set so high, it would be amazing if this game didn’t produce at least 5/6 goals. Let’s take the over 7 here for plus money, stealing a push if we end on seven.

  • The Edmonton Oilers rank 1st in the Western Conference for games to see 8+ goals
  • The San Jose Sharks rank 5th in the Western Conference for games to see 8+ goals

NHL Pick: Over 7 (+105) at BetOnline

Vancouver Canucks vs. Arizona Coyotes

Thursday, April 13, 2023 – 10:00 PM EDT at Mullett Arena

Don’t Mess with Coyotes at Home

Arizona has been solid at home this season, even playing in such a small arena like the Mullett Arena (due to no other venue being available right now). With a 21-15-4 overall record on home ice.

It might not be the best in the league, but it’s pretty solid when you look at their away record and it reads 7-25-9 (yikes). Both these teams are very equal right now, and the 12-point difference in the standings doesn’t reflect that.

  • Arizona allows 3.58 goals per game
  • Vancouver allows 3.59 goals per game
  • Vancouver has 71% PK (Worst in NHL)
  • Arizona has 74% PK (4th Worst in NHL)

The Pick

Neither of these teams has much motivation to go for the win here, for that reason alone, we would like to side with the Coyotes to cover their +1.5 PK line at -200 here on home ice.

Although the Canucks have had the 3rd best ATS record this season, Arizona has covered the spread in 23 of their 40 home games this season.

The Canucks are potentially missing ten players in this matchup and Arizona will want to give their fans one final victory on home ice, don’t be surprised if they cash the moneyline also.

NHL Pick: Arizona Coyotes +1.5 PK Line (-200) at BetOnline
