Under the tutelage of Gareth Southgate, the Three Lions are simply on another level during the Euro 2024 qualifying campaign thus far, taking four wins from four - including a 2-0 success over Ukraine earlier this year.
Alongside the Ukraine success, England ran through Italy (2-1) and bagged an impressive 11 goals combined when faced with Malta and North Macedonia.
Don’t be surprised if the under-21 talent from England finds more playing time, as this group won the European Championships this year and is perhaps a sign of good things for Southgate’s men.
A Different Class
Ukraine are no slouches, and they’ve notably secured a 3-3 draw against Germany and victories over North Macedonia and Malta since the England defeat. However, we cannot hide from the truth, and although they’ll likely be contending with Italy for second place in Group C, they’re no match for this England group.

Playing Catch Up
The Azzurri’s defense of the European crown hasn’t delivered the most idealistic beginnings, as they sit outside the top two of Group C in the 2024 qualifiers thus far. That said, although Roberto Mancini exited due to the temptation of a Saudi pay cheque, newly appointed boss Luciano Spalletti can assist this team in playing catch up.
The strengths of Italy seem to have drifted since their triumph over England during the Euro 2020 final after a failed World Cup, and recent Nations League heartache has many critics questioning their abilities.
The good news for Italian supporters is that they have an easy test this weekend when faced with a squad in North Macedonia that presents the fourth-worst defense in the competition after conceding 11 goals.

A 7-0 drubbing at the hands of England gives us an inkling of the skill level competing for North Macedonia. And now, with the reigning champions lying in wait, it would be wishful thinking to believe this squad stands a chance of collecting all three points.
