Texas A&M Aggies vs. Miami Hurricanes

Saturday, September 09, 2023 – 03:30 PM EDT at Hard Rock Stadium

Matchup Analysis

The AI Model suggests the Miami Hurricanes will cover a 4.5-point spread with a 25-22 loss. You can still bet on Miami, watch them lose, but win your bet.

The Texas A&M Aggies are excited about the future, but I’m not. The Aggies earned a 52-10 win over the New Mexico Aggies. I’m not impressed. The pass protection was terrible against New Mexico. It won’t hold up against Miami’s pass rush at all.

Miami held Miami-OH to three points. They also held Miami-OH to two third-down conversions and just nine first-downs in the entire game. They even held the RedHawks to just two yards per carry. Tyler Van Dyke added 201 yards passing on 17-for-22. He also threw a touchdown and an interception, but I still think his play will be comparable to Texas A&M’s Conner Weigman.

Weigman threw for 236 yards on 18-for-23. He just ended with five touchdowns on the night. Van Dyke didn’t throw the same amount of touchdowns, but his play was comparable against a much better team.

The Pick

I’m with the AI Model. I like the Hurricanes with the points.

Notre Dame Fighting Irish vs. North Carolina State Wolfpack

Saturday, September 09, 2023 – 12:00 PM EDT at Carter-Finley Stadium

Matchup Analysis

Our AI Model believes the Notre Dame Fighting Irish will earn a 39-14 win over the North Carolina State. With the spread at -7.5 for Notre Dame, there’s clear value on the Fighting Irish to cover the spread on Saturday.

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish have begun the season 2-0 with wins against Navy and Tennessee State, but these weren’t just wins. These were dominating wins. They combined to win those two games, 98-6. Tennessee State is a bad program, but Navy isn’t. Notre Dame made Navy look foolish in the opener.

Sam Hartman has led the Fighting Irish with 445 yards passing and six touchdowns. Audric Estime has also added 29 carries for 211 yards and two touchdowns. They’ll play their first Power-5 matchup against North Carolina State, but I wouldn’t even be that worried as a Notre Dame backer.

North Carolina State only earned a 24-14 win over UConn in their first game. Virginia transfer, Brennan Armstrong, threw for just 155 yards and no touchdowns in his debut for the Wolfpack. The run game was better for North Carolina State, but that ten-point win against UConn was still underwhelming.

North Carolina State did an excellent job at limiting penalties, but they also allowed UConn to rush for over six yards per carry in that first game. Imagine what Notre Dame will do to this North Carolina State defense.

The Pick

I’m with the AI Model. Back Notre Dame -7.5 at the NCAAF odds.

Utah Utes vs. Baylor Bears

Saturday, September 09, 2023 – 12:00 PM EDT at McLane Stadium

Matchup Analysis

Our AI Model believes the Utah Utes will earn a convincing 41-20 win over the Baylor Bears. After Baylor’s deflating loss to Texas State, this looks pretty likely.

Baylor is getting a lot of criticism after its loss to Texas State in Week 1. The Bears were a 27.5-point favorite and lost multiple possessions to a Texas State team with 50+ transfers in their first FBS game. It was embarrassing for Baylor, but they still did some good things. Now, they’ll have to face the Utah Utes, who just knocked off Florida and have won two straight Pac-12 Championships.

And that’s not even the most demoralizing thing for Baylor. Cam Rising will likely return to the field for the Utes in this game. Rising tore his ACL in the Rose Bowl last year and didn’t play in Week 1 against Florida. All signs are pointing to him playing in Week 2 against Baylor.

Utah’s offense lacked much of a passing game. The run game was great, but the passing game behind Bryson Barnes wasn’t all that elite. However, with Rising in the mix, all that will change.

Baylor, dating back to last year, has lost five straight games. They’ve lost some heartbreakers, and they’ve lost in some blowouts. The head coach, Dave Aranda, is officially on the hot seat for the Bears. He could be done if he can’t turn around this program and get them into a better bowl game this year.

The Pick

Anyway, with the return of Rising, I’m all in on the Utes. Back them at one of the offshore sportsbooks.
