Will a Texas rout of Oklahoma State impress the voters enough to lift the Longhorns into the College Football Playoffs? The NCAAF odds are in their favor according to our handicapper, who also has picks for the MAC and MWC Championships. Let’s go through some of the latest betting insights and odds from our best offshore sportsbooks.

Oklahoma State Cowboys vs. Texas Longhorns

Saturday, December 02, 2023 – 12:00 PM ET at AT&T Stadium

With a seat at the table for the College Football Playoffs still possible, the Texas Longhorns are favored by two touchdowns in the Big 12 Championship against the Oklahoma State Cowboys.

‘Under’ Cashes Last 6 Big 12 Championships

Oklahoma State is playing in its second Big 12 Championship, the first one a couple of years ago when the Cowboys fell to Baylor, 21-16, as 7-point favorites. Texas is playing in its seventh league title tilt, splitting the previous six. The Longhorns’ most recent appearance was in 2018, a 39-27 loss to Oklahoma with the Sooners favored by 9½.

Cowboys Have Roped ‘Horns in Recent Years

Texas and Oklahoma State didn’t meet during the regular season, and the Longhorns will be looking to add to the 26-11 advantage in their rivalry, which dates back more than 100 years when the two schools were members of the old, old Southwest Conference.

While Texas has a commanding lead in the series, it’s the Cowboys who have dominated in recent years by winning the last two and six of the last eight. The underdog has covered each of the last six meetings, winning outright the last three.

The Pick

Texas could be down to No. 3 on the running back chart. Jonathon Brooks was lost for the season a couple of weeks back, and CJ Baxter limped off the field this past Friday in the rout of Texas Tech.

Fortunately, the Longhorns are deep enough to shake that off without much trouble, and they’re on a mission to at least make it a difficult decision for the CFP Committee. Texas rolls, 35-20.

Miami (OH) RedHawks vs. Toledo Rockets

Saturday, December 02, 2023 – 12:00 PM ET at Ford Field

It has been more than a decade since a school won back-to-back MAC Championships, and the Toledo Rockets look to change that as chalk in this year’s matchup with the Miami RedHawks.

Last 4 MAC Championships Stay ‘Under’

This event was dominated by the Marshall Thundering Herd when it first came to be a quarter century ago, and Toledo is seeking its fifth league crown in what will be the Rockets’ eighth appearance. The Rockets scored a 17-7 win as small chalk on NCAAF odds boards last year.

Miami is making its sixth appearance, winning three of the previous five trips. The RedHawks were most recently in Detroit for the 2019 championship, pulling off a 26-21 upset of Central Michigan as 5½-point underdogs.

Hawks in Revenge Mode from October Loss

It just so happened the two teams met for the first time in 11 years earlier this season, and the defensive battle ended with a 21-17 road win for the Rockets. Toledo zoomed to a 21-3 halftime lead, then held on in a contest that saw both teams barely combine for 600 yards of offense.

The Pick

The defense should have the upper hand again, making the ‘under’ a wise wager.

Boise State Broncos vs. UNLV Rebels

Saturday, December 02, 2023 – 03:00 PM ET at Allegiant Stadium

It came down to less than a point in the combined computer rankings, but Boise State edged out San Jose State for the right to meet UNLV in the Mountain West Championship.

Underdogs Win 4 of Last 5 MWC Championships

The game opened with the Broncos laying 1½, but that quickly doubled to Boise State -3. Sportsbooks’ odds have scoreboard bettors deciding on a 59-point total.

For UNLV, this is uncharted territory as the Rebels make their first MWC title game appearance. Boise State is a familiar face in the event, with this year’s contest the sixth in the 11-year history of the MWC Championship. ‘Under’ bettors have cashed four of the last five years.

1st Meeting in 4 Years

A 3-way tie atop the MWC ranks necessitated the use of computers to make the final cut, and it was San Jose State left on the outside looking in despite beating UNLV in the final week of the regular season. The Spartans missed out despite winning their last six games.

Boise State and UNLV did not meet during the regular season, one of the reasons behind the MWC needing computers to settle things. The Broncos have won all five MWC matchups with the Rebels, most recently a 38-13 romp in 2019.

The Pick

Our final free college football pick for Championship Saturday is to buck the trend in MWC finales and play the final soaring past the total.
