Miami (FL) Hurricanes vs. Virginia Cavaliers
Monday, February 05, 2024 – 07:00 PM ET at John Paul Jones Arena
Unbeaten at home this season and rising in the polls with a 6-game win streak, the Virginia Cavaliers look to keep the pressure on North Carolina in the ACC when they host the Miami Hurricanes to tip the first full week of February.
Underdogs Cover 6 of the Last 8 Meetings
This clash opened with the Cavaliers favored by 4. However, that spread has grown to -5½ at many shops. The total is 132-132½.
It has been more than 13 months since the Hurricanes and Cavaliers last met. It’s also nearly seven years since Miami won a game in Charlottesville. Their December 2022 matchup took place in Coral Gables where the Hurricanes scored a mild 66-64 upset.
That result halted a 6-game win streak in the series by Virginia, three of those collisions taking place at John Paul Jones Arena. ‘Under’ bettors cashed three of the last four clashes at Virginia.
Cavs Have Won Last 22 at Home
After missing the previous two games with a hip injury, Matthew Cleveland returned to action this past Saturday with a double-double in Miami’s 82-74 win over Virginia Tech. The Hurricanes trailed by 9 at the half but wore the Hokies down with a 27-7 scoring advantage at the free throw line.
After leading by as many as 12, Virginia survived a furious comeback bid on the road by Clemson for a 66-65 win. The odds favored Clemson by 4½, giving the Cavaliers a fourth cover to go with a push during their 6-game win streak.
The Pick
Virginia is a perfect 12-0 in Charlottesville this season. They own the nation’s longest home win streak at 22 leading into Monday’s matchup. Let’s play this one ‘under.’

Kansas Jayhawks vs. Kansas State Wildcats
Monday, February 05, 2024 – 09:00 PM ET at Bramlage Coliseum
Fresh off a statement win on Saturday, Kansas travels to meet rival Kansas State in a Sunflower State showdown.
Jayhawks 1-3 on Big 12 Highway
Bill Self and the Jayhawks enjoyed a fine week with a pair of home wins. The first was an 83-54 breeze past Oklahoma State. They followed that up with a strong effort on Saturday when the Jayhawks downed No. 4 Houston, 78-55.
It was the most points any team had scored on Houston’s top-ranked defense this season, and Kansas made it look relatively easy by shooting nearly 69% from the field and crashing the glass for a 40-24 rebounding advantage.
Last week wasn’t nearly as enjoyable for Jerome Tang and the Wildcats. They lost both trips to the floor to see their skid swell to four. The really sour part is Kansas State was favored to beat Oklahoma and Oklahoma State, and has now lost five in a row at the window.
Last 4 Meetings Sail Past the Totals
Kansas has dominated this rivalry to the tune of a 201-95 record. The teams traded home wins and covers last season, with Kansas State’s victory at Bramlage one of the top games of the 2022-23 campaign with the wildcat posting an 83-82 decision in overtime.
The Pick
Expect Kansas to have enough momentum carried over from the win over Houston to handle the Wildcats on Monday.

Eastern Washington Eagles vs. Portland State Vikings
Monday, February 05, 2024 – 10:00 PM ET at Viking Pavilion
The final game on Monday’s college basketball betting card is a rematch from nearly six weeks ago, and Eastern Washington is favored by 3½ on the road to make it nine in a row at Portland State’s expense.
Both Sides 1-3 O/U Last 4 Games
This will be the third and final stop on Eastern Washington’s road trip. It began with the Eagles dropping their first Big Sky contest at Montana State last Thursday before posting a 78-65 win as small underdogs at Montana on Saturday.
Portland State wraps up a 4-game homestand on Monday. They look to keep the good times rolling with a 4th-straight dubya. After sitting idle for a week, the Vikings covered as 5½-point chalk last Saturday in a 58-51 final after trailing Sacramento State by a dozen in the first half.
Totals Split Last 4 in Portland
The Eagles and Vikings began their conference slates against one another in Cheney on December 28. Eastern Washington cruised to a 91-57 decision. Favored by 3, the Eagles had that covered midway through the first half and canned 11-19 from beyond the arc.
The Pick
That was Eastern Washington’s 8th-straight win in the rivalry, three of those games taking place in Portland where the Eagles were underdogs twice. The Eagles fly on Monday for our final college basketball pick.
