Golf Pick: Viktor Hovland to Win Outright (+2500) at Bovada

Yes, I think Viktor Hovland can be the winner this week at the Wells Fargo Championship. In 2021, the twenty-five-year-old from Oslo, Norway, was an impressive third on his course debut at the Quail Hollow Country Club.
Hovland was in the thick of contention at the Players Championship and the Masters recently and is now coming back from a short break that was probably needed after those exertions. The wider fairways and course playing longer than normal will play into Viktor Hovland’s strengths this week.
I expect a strong showing, so take the top 10 market for your first prop bet at a top US sportsbook and combine it with an outright win as your long shot.

Weather Forecast
This week’s weather forecast in North Carolina sees temperatures lower than the normal oppressive humid ones. Rain is forecast for Saturday morning and there has been plenty of recent precipitation, but with the course SubAir System, conditions should be on the usual fast, tricky side for competitors.
Top Contenders and Betting Odds
Rory McIlroy – (+700)
The Northern Irishman is a three-time winner at Quail Hollow and a perennial top 10 finisher.
He will be keen to kick start his season after the recent missed cut at the Masters followed by a withdrawal from an elevated event at the Heritage.
Max Homa – (+2800)
The popular Californian is a two-time winner of the event but only once at Quail Hollow, as he won last year’s Wells Fargo at TPC Potomac.
Will be keen to put behind him some recent mediocre form after a bright start to 2023 that saw him win the Farmers Insurance Open.
Jason Day – (+2800)
The Australian was the winner here in 2018 and his consistency has been eye-catching all year, almost reminiscent of the form that took him to world #1. Hugely respected, after a few weeks off.
Rickie Fowler – (+4000)
The Orange Man was the winner here in 2012, and with four other top 6 finishes, including the 2017 PGA Championship, he loves the track as he does most Tom Fazio designs.
His new swing is looking better with each week and a win looks around the corner for Rickie Fowler.
Gary Woodland – (+8000)
The 2019 US Open champion has been playing solid injury-free golf for the last year, and if he finds some form with the flatstick, he may be a dark horse this week given he has consistently good form here.
Brian Harman – (+8000)
The 2017 champion here has struggled in 2023, but there was promise at the World Matchplay, followed by 7th at the Heritage.
Brian Harman is a solid place option and prop pick this week.
Sleepers
Patrick Rodgers – (+11000)
Like Hahn, Rodgers looks like a solid prop betting pick in the place markets of top 20 and top 40, as he’s in strong form and has proven his place here, as his runner-up finish in 2015 illustrates.
Webb Simpson – (+20000)
Gradually, Simpson’s best form is slowly and surely returning this year, and the former US Open winner has many strong previous efforts here to encourage him this week.
James Hahn – (+50000)
He was the champion here in 2016 and he's threatening better form in recent outings.
Possibly, James Hahn is a decent prop bet for the top 20 and top 40 markets.
