Florida Panthers vs. Pittsburgh Penguins

Tuesday, March 08, 2022 – 07:00 PM EST at PPG Paints Arena

Games Piling up for Florida

The Panthers come into tonight’s game on a back-to-back and this will be their 4th game in six nigh. No matter how good a team is, even teams who are super fit will most definitely be fatigued having played that many times in such a short space of time.

The Panthers won their previous three games having scored a total of 15 goals and allowing only 3, but those wins did come at NHL odds of -400, -395, -350 so it really isn’t any surprise. Florida boasts a 36-14-3 record as a favorite this season, and at home, has only lost 6 times in 31 games played.

They have the most dangerous offense in the league right now as they lead the lead in goals per game with an average of 4.13 and have scored 49 goals more than today’s opponents.

Penguins Looking to Bounce Back

Although Pittsburgh has won three of their previous four games, a 3-2 loss against the Hurricanes in the race for the top spot in the Metropolitan Division wasn’t ideal and they will no doubt want to avenge that loss against a (hopefully) tired Panthers side.

Sidney Crosby comes into tonight’s game having had a six-game point streak, and against a Panthers team who don’t mind being involved in high scoring affairs, there’s a chance Crosby gets on the scoreboard tonight. Crosby to score over 1.5 points tonight is best priced at +150 with BetOnline (visit our BetOnline Review).

The Penguins have the 11th best offense this season and they are only 9 goals away from sneaking into the top five. With that being said their biggest chance of winning tonight is to keep the Panthers to the least amount of goals as possible, just like they did last time they played and beat them.

Tristan Jarry will most likely get the starting spot tonight as he boasts an impressive 2.30 goals against, which is the second-best in the league from all the goaltenders who have played 40+ games.

Betting Predictions

This is going to be a back and forth game and we do not see another low scoreline involving these two teams, expect goals here. Although the over 6.0 is appealing at -120, we are very much also liking the first period over 1.5 goals at -120.

The Penguins will look to start this game off quickly, to try and wear down the potentially already semi-fatigued Panthers, compared to their three days’ rest prior to their last game.

Officially, however, we are opposing the Panthers and taking the Penguins to win on the moneyline at -110. Although it’s never easy to oppose an offense like the Panthers', it’s also hard to think they are not going to at least struggle here, even if they do win.

We see the Penguins taking them right to the final second of the game, where the Penguins are more likely to cash -1.5 due to the extra rest, etc.

Score Prediction: Panthers 3 - Penguins 5

NHL Pick: Pittsburgh Penguins ML (-110) at BetOnline
