Cincinnati remains in the hunt for a National League Wild Card spot in the playoffs, while Philadelphia and Milwaukee are in position for clinching wins on Tuesday’s baseball betting lineup.
Cincinnati Reds vs. Cleveland Guardians
Tuesday, September 26, 2023 – 06:10 PM EDT at Progressive Field
Cincinnati needs wins and a little help to crash the National League postseason, and the Reds have the edge with Hunter Greene (4-6, 4.24 ERA) on the mound for Tuesday’s series opener in Cleveland against Lucas Giolito (8-14, 4.60) and the Guardians.
Visitors Have Won 5 of Last 6 Meetings
Tight moneylines are the norm at top sportsbooks for the clash of Ohio rivals, some shops even calling it a pick ‘em. The total is 8, with the ‘under’ generally taxed a little extra.
After getting roughed up in his first two starts off the IL last month, Greene has strung together four pretty good efforts, with Cincinnati winning three of them. The lone Reds loss was against the Twins last week when Greene had arguably his best outing of the season (7 IP, 1 ER, 14 K). This will be his first appearance in the Buckeye rivalry.
It has been a mixed bag for Giolito since joining Cleveland, much as it was when he was with the White Sox and Angels earlier this season. He had a great outing against Texas (7 IP, 0 ER, 12 K) a couple of starts back, but Cleveland dropped Giolito’s other three appearances while he pitched to an 8.21 ERA.
Reds Expect Rookie McLain Back From IL
The Reds and Guardians split the 2-game set played in Cincinnati back in mid-August, both of those contests staying ‘under’ the totals. Cincinnati got an important win on Sunday to stop a 4-game slide, and the Reds will build the streak to two consecutive triumphs on Tuesday.

Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Philadelphia Phillies
Tuesday, September 26, 2023 – 06:40 PM EDT at Citizens Bank Park
From the Buckeye State to the Keystone State, we go for another series opener between rivals. Philadelphia can wrap up the No. 1 NL Wild Card with a win over Pittsburgh, and we’re looking for a run-line win with the Phillies sending Aaron Nola (12-9, 4.57) to the mound against Mitch Keller (13-9, 4.25).
Phils Have Won Nola’s Last 4 Home Starts
Keller’s last two starts on the road have been disasters for the 27-year-old righthander. Over the span of 10.2 IP, Keller surrendered 15 runs and 4 HR, and the Pirates are lucky to have split the contests in Atlanta and Chicago. He took the loss against the Phillies at home in late July, and Kyle Schwarber (7-10, 1 HR) has been a thorn in Keller’s side over the years.
Nola faced the Pirates nearly two months ago in Pittsburgh and took the loss after allowing 7 runs (5 earned) before getting through the fifth. He was 4-1 with a 2.76 ERA in his six previous starts against the Pirates, and the Phillies are 9-4 in Nola’s 13 home starts (3.44 ERA), including dubyas in his last four appearances at CBP.

St. Louis Cardinals vs. Milwaukee Brewers
Tuesday, September 26, 2023 – 07:40 PM EDT at American Family Field
A couple of division rivals from cities known for the beer are also part of the Tuesday MLB odds card, and Milwaukee can clinch the NL Central title with a win over St. Louis. It’s another chalk play as the Brewers send Adrian Houser (7-4, 4.35) to the bump opposite Zack Thompson (5-7, 4.57) of the Cardinals in a mound rematch from last week.
Brewers Have Won 4 of Last 6 Matchups
Last week’s collision between Houser and Thompson in St. Louis turned in Milwaukee’s favor early, and the Brewers cruised to an 8-2 win as -140 chalk. Josh Donaldson’s 3-run tater in the top of the first put Thompson and the Cardinals in an early hole, and Houser ended up with a strong 6-IP, 1-R pitching line.
The win last week was the fourth in a row for the Brewers with Houser on the hill, and ended a personal string of 3-straight losses for the veteran against the Cardinals. Milwaukee has won three of Houser’s four starts against NL Central teams, with the Okie fashioning a 2.38 ERA.
MLB Pick: Brewers (-148) at BetOnline
