The Ultimate Fighting Championship returns to Las Vegas for a highly stacked Fight Night event.
Michael Johnson vs. Jamie Mullarkey
UFC Lightweight Main Card Bout
Saturday, July 09, 2022 – 09:10 PM EDT at UFC Apex
After breaking his three-year 4-fight losing streak just eight weeks ago, Michael Johnson (20-17-0) is wasting no time in returning to the octagon as he welcomes a new generation of fighters into the octagon this weekend.
Johnson is a veteran of the UFC's 155lb weight class, and aged 36; he put the critics to bed last time out when proving his sleek, striking skills aren't finished making statements as he celebrated a round two TKO stoppage over Alan Patrick.
Australia's Jamie Mullarkey (14-5-0) wasn't so fortunate in his previous fight, losing to Jalin Turner via TKO. He'll be hoping to use Johnson as a stepping stone back into the win column, a highly possible outcome as youth and durability will be on his side.
Johnson vs. Mullarkey Fight Breakdown
As I watch a large crowd of the MMA betting community rush to put the Mullarkey Moneyline on their betting, I understand why because the apparent downfall of Johnson and Alan Patrick wasn't exactly a world-beater. However, I can't ignore Johnson's striking offense and put 100% faith into the Aussie.
With that said, speed kills, and Mullarkey will own the advantage in this area. He's well-rounded, and whilst he should be the favorite, the -200 and above price on Mullarkey isn't a betting position I want to be in.
UFC Vegas 58 Odds Analysis and Prediction
The available UFC odds with Bookmaker Review are giving us a reasonable price on the under two and a half rounds. Both fighters have shown to have susceptible chins, and I envision a high pace battle that could easily be over within the first five minutes.
Jared Vanderaa vs. Chase Sherman
UFC Heavyweight Main Card Bout
Saturday, July 09, 2022 – 09:35 PM EDT at UFC Apex
Chase Sherman (15-10-0) was given a second opportunity on the UFC heavyweight roster when the promotion re-signed him in 2020. Unfortunately, he's won just 1 of his last five fights since his return, getting finished by submission in his last two.
To Sherman's credit, his boxing offense is noteworthy, but this is MMA, and his overall skill set isn't good enough to compete with the UFC elite.
Jared Vanderaa (12-8-0) arrived to the UFC from Dana Whites Contender Series, and similar to his opponent, his company record isn't desirable (1-4).
Vanderaa vs. Sherman Fight Breakdown
I believe durability, complete MMA skill set, cardio, and room for improvement are all siding with Vanderaa. With that said, do I trust putting my hard-earned cash on his money? Never.
The loser of this fight will likely lose their job; I expect a high intensity and a strong willingness from both men to finish the fight.
UFC Vegas 58 Odds Analysis Prediction
The available UFC odds with the top-rated Sportsbooks favor Vanderaa but the under two and a half rounds is where I feel comfortable placing my money.
