There are some interesting matchups for Week 15 in the NFL. Which two games have the best chance at turning into upsets? Let’s take a look at the NFL odds and decide which way to lean at the top sportsbooks.
New England Patriots vs. Indianapolis Colts
Saturday, December 18, 2021 – 8:15 PM EST at Lucas Oil Stadium
With the college football regular season finished, the NFL will consistently play Saturday Night Football. The late-night game will feature two of the hottest teams in the league including the New England Patriots and Indianapolis Colts.
With the Patriots listed as slight underdogs, New England is worth a look after winning seven straight games. The offense is currently averaging 26.9 points per game but what is more intriguing is how the defense has only allowed 15.4 points per game. The Patriots aren’t very flashy on the offensive end.
They’re just kind of doing enough to win games. Rookie quarterback Mac Jones is the favorite to win the Rookie of the Year award with 16 touchdowns and eight interceptions on the year. On the defensive end, New England has struggled a bit in the run game but ultimately, has looked sensational all season long with takeaways and in coverage.
The Patriots are only allowing 212.6 yards per game in the air this season. On the other hand, the Colts have looked better recently on the defensive end. To start the year, coverage was terrible and tackling was inconsistent.
But they’ve been better. Still, there’s room on our NFL picks, for the Patriots to have success on the offensive end as the Patriots are rushing the football 123.5 yards per game. A couple of big missed tackles could be the difference between winning and losing.
Houston Texans vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
Sunday, December 19, 2021 – 1:00 PM EST at TIAA Bank Field
We just spoke about the game between two of the best teams in the NFL. Now let’s talk about the game between the two worst teams in the NFL. The Jaguars are currently 2-11 on the season and will play a home game, making them a 3-point favorite against the Texans. To be honest, there’s not a single thing that the Jaguars do well.
Head coach Urban Meyer has been on the news for thing after thing and that isn’t helping his case to stay around next season. He’s calling out coaches and making players question how bad they want to play for the Jaguars this season.
Jacksonville has been awful trying to stop the run this year and have a secondary that can beat any given night. With that said, Davis Mills will get another opportunity to perform. With Mills under center, the Texans just seem more confident.
The offense will likely flow better and there’s a good chance Mills can beat the secondary of the Jaguars. Of course, the Texans haven’t been great defensively either, but at least the coaching staff didn’t lose the locker room.
