Did something I feel good about. Thur to SUN, wanted to cover a Marathon distance.

Went on the treadmill and watched games:
*Thur: 4 miles
*Fri: 5 miles
*Sat: 5 + 4
*Sun: 4 + 4

Total = 26 miles. I feel OK, plan to do it every weekend rest of the year.

Have a check-up in January. Want to get a good report.

Nice one, Chuck! Keep it up!

Watching sports is always a good distraction while running. Is this a general check-up you're having in Jan?

Thank you. Yes, Genie, just a general check-up in JAN.

Want to stay ahead of the game. Going to keep burning calories. Diet is trickier, b/c I tend to consume too many Carbs.
This is indeed a great preparation, Bob. Just maintain for there's a lot of temptation for this month and especially the next month with the holiday seasons coming.

You can do it!!!!!!!!!!💪

Bobby post what you're eating. The exercise is 5% of it, it's almost 100% diet.
You might be eating something you think is 'healthy' but isn't. I'm guessing you're still having some sugar which is impossible to lose weight while eating.

If you stuck to a low or no carb diet but stuffed yourself with meat protein, you'd never be hungry and the fat would melt off. Try it for a week and you'll see, then get addicted to it and won't want to look back.

roland is spot on....

Think of it this way.
You have to net negative calories in a day to lose weight.
  • You burn (230 lbs) ~2500 calories per day just being alive (normal activities).
  • You need to eat fewer calories than you burn --> net weight loss.
  • Alternatively, you can also increase the number of calories you burn in a day by exercising but it doesn't get you huge jumps. It helps but not as much as cutting food calories does.
Example:
  • You (230 lbs) go for 2 mile walk = burning ~250 calories. That's only a 10% increase in calories burned. (10% extra calories burned above the 2500 calories typically burned).
  • 1 Del Taco Birra Quesadilla = 450 calories. You would have to walk about 3.5 miles to burn it off. A lot of work to burn off that food.

You should excercise but to lose weight the focus has to be what you put in your pie hole.
GL buddy.

Vegas has Bobby odds

Under 200lbs 1 year from now
YES +550
NO -800

Unfortunately I don't think he is really ready to change. He will not be able to overcome the fact that unhealthy food is always at arm's reach at home and that the rest of the family is not changing their habits along with him.

Any doubt eat steak and eggs, do 15 minutes of strength training 5 days a week, get 8 hours of sleep, and get after the wife every night.
