NBA Player Prop Bets & Picks: Back Wendell Carter Jr., Nikola Jokic (November 3)

Thursday night features two games on the NBA schedule. The Golden State Warriors will head to Florida to take the Orlando Magic and a Northwest Division matchup takes place in Oklahoma City as the Nuggets visit the Thunder.

NBA Player Props & Picks

Wendell Carter Jr., Over 9.5 Rebounds (+100)

Wendell Carter Jr. comes into this matchup averaging 9.5 rebounds per game. However, I believe Carter Jr. has a favorable matchup against the Warriors inside the paint. First, the Warriors are allowing opposing centers 18.4 rebounds per game, which ranks third worst in the league, according to Hashtag Basketball. Furthermore, the Warriors rank 19th in the league in opponent rebounding.

Additionally, Carter Jr. grabbed double-digit rebounds against the Celtics, Pistons and Knicks — teams that also allow the most rebounds to opposing centers. I believe the Warriors lack the size and length inside the paint to keep players like Paolo Banchero and, more importantly, Carter Jr. off the boards

Nikola Jokic, Over 12.5 Rebounds (-130)

Nikola Jokic, to no one’s surprise, is off a great start this season, especially rebounding the basketball. Despite Jokic’s numbers being slightly down — more so because of the return of Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr. — he is still dominating on the boards.

Jokic is averaging 11.1 rebounds per game, but that number goes through the roof when he plays the Oklahoma City Thunder because of their lack of size inside. In fact, the Nuggets faced the Thunder earlier this season and Jokic recorded a triple-double with 16 rebounds.

Dating back to last season, in five games against the Thunder, Jokic is averaging 13.8 rebounds per game, including three games where he grabbed 16 or more rebounds. Additionally, the Thunder are allowing opposing centers to grab 18.8 rebounds per game this season. I like Jokic to continue his domination on the boards against the Thunder on Thursday night.

Raptors vs. Mavericks NBA Player Prop: Expect Luka Magic in Dallas Friday (November 4)

Luka Doncic, 39.5 PTS + AST

Luka Doncic averaged 37.1 combined points and assists last season, in yet another MVP-caliber campaign. With those numbers roughly in line with the two seasons prior, there likely isn’t much room for improvement this season, right?

Wrong.

With the departure of Jalen Brunson to New York, Doncic has kicked it up to yet another notch so far this season. The fifth-year dynamo is averaging an absurd 45.1 points and assists through his first seven games. He’s eclipsed this total in each outing.

Digging into the advanced numbers, we can see some notable changes compared to last season. Doncic’s already sky-high Usage Rate has increased (39% this season compared to 36.8% last season), he’s scoring more off drives (17.6 points vs. 12.5) and he’s looking to post-up more as well (7.3 compared to 3.7).

What’s clear is that Doncic is being asked to shoulder even more of the scoring load. He’s taking 41.6% of the Mavericks’ shots while he’s on the floor, more than a 7% increase from last season. And despite the added shot volume, his potential assists remain in line with last season.

Even though the Raptors might present a tougher test, Doncic has shown himself to be matchup-proof. Last season, the point-forward registered 48 and 39 points and assists in his two outings against Toronto.

Hoping to see some Luka magic tonight, I have the three-time All Star projected at 44 points and assists.

NBA Player Prop Bets & Picks: Bet Rudy Gobert, Justise Winslow Saturday (November 5)

Jalen Suggs, Under 15.5 Points (-120)

If you are looking for some early action, get in on this Jalen Suggs under points prop. The Magic shocked the basketball world with a one-point victory over the Warriors last game for just their second win of the season. Suggs exploded for a team-high 26 points in his second game back from injury.

However, even though Suggs has a better matchup tonight against the Kings, we’ll gladly take the under for his points. Last season Suggs averaged 11.8 points per game while shooting a putrid 36.1% from the field and 21.4% from behind the arc. His shooting numbers barely improved to 44.7% and 29.2%.

Not only is Suggs a poor shooter, but the Magic drafted Paolo Banchero with the No. 1 overall pick in last year’s draft. Banchero leads the Magic with a 29.2% usage rate while averaging 21.8 points per game. Cole Anthony is still out, but even if Suggs attempts around 15 shots, I’ll side with this under prop.

Our model has Suggs projected for exactly his season average last season of 11.8 points tonight. The Kings may only have one win as well, but they are 3.5-point road favorites with the Magic implied for 111 points. Even though this is a strong matchup, I’ll take a bet on Suggs’ true shooting coming back to Earth.

Rudy Gobert, Over 25.5 Points + Rebounds (-120)

The Timberwolves have lost three-straight games as they are now close to double digit favorites at home against the Rockets. It hasn’t been the best start for the Timberwolves since the addition of Rudy Gobert, but there is plenty of time to figure out how to best utilize Gobert in this talented offense.

This is a get-right spot for the Timberwolves against the Rockets who have the worst record in the league at 1-8 and are 0-6 on the road. With a 231 point total, this game is likely going to be a shootout. Both teams were first and second in pace last season and they are trending in a similar direction this year.

Gobert leads the league with 13.9 rebounds per game and will have plenty of chances to build on that. The Rockets were 28th in Rebounding Percentage last season, but adding Jabari Smith has helped those numbers. However, with Smith out this game, Gobert should absolutely feast in the paint tonight.

Through nine games, the Rockets have allowed 53.3 points per game in the paint, which ranks 25th in the league. Our model has Gobert projected for 30.9 points and rebounds as he has averaged a double-double with 12.6 points and 13.9 rebounds per game this season. Great spot to target the

Did not expect the Suns first home loss to come to the Trail Blazers, especially playing without Damian Lillard and Anfernee Simons. Jerami Grant hit the game-winning buzzer-beater to take the Trail Blazers to an impressive 6-2 record. The Suns will get revenge tonight as they are favored by double digits.

When looking at our model Justice Winslowunder props are by far the best on this seven-game slate. Picking which prop to bet is the tough part, but it doesn’t feel like you can go wrong. Winslow did close last night and played over 26 minutes for the first time all season, but Simons could return tonight.

This bet is expecting Simons back in the lineup, as Winslow can rack up assists in a hurry if Simons is out. However, on the season Winslow is averaging only 7.4 points and 3.9 assists per game. Our prop model has him projected for a combined 8.6 points and assists making this the best prop bet on the board.

The Suns are one of the best defenses in the league and are favored by 10 points as the Trail Blazers have a slate-low 103.25 implied point total. It is tough to back anyone from this Trail Blazers team right now. Make sure to monitor the Simons news, but take all of the Winslow under props tonight.

NBA Player Prop Bets & Picks: Bet Santi Aldama and LeBron James on Sunday (November 6)

LeBron James, Under 7.5 Assists (-145)

After back-to-back wins, the Los Angeles Lakers lost by double-digits at home against the Utah Jazz last game. They are now four-point home underdogs against one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference. The Cavaliers are 7-1 this season and have the second-best Defensive Rating (103.3) entering today.

In his 20th season in the league, LeBron James continues to beat Father Time. He has increased his peripherals more than last year while decreasing his scoring production. However, with a 2-6 record, James may need to get more aggressive to keep this Lakers team afloat, which will bring down his assists.

Our model has James projected for only six assists in this brutal matchup against the Cavaliers, who allow 22.3 assists per game, which ranks as the fifth-best in the league. This defense has only allowed 103.3 points per 100 possessions, and the Lakers are projected for 109.25 points. It’s a tough spot for King James and the Lakers.

Make sure to shop for the best value that you feel comfortable with on this bet. There are several books that have this line at 6.5 with a ton of juice on the under. If you are feeling risky, you could get this prop at +120 on FanDuel for James to have under 6.5 assists. However risky you want to be, I love this bet.

Santi Aldama, Under 10.5 Points (-125)

The Memphis Grizzlies have won two games in a row and are double-digit home favorites against the Washington Wizards, who have lost four of their last five games. Now that they are fully healthy, the Usage Rate for this Grizzlies offense has been dispersed evenly, and Santi Aldama isn’t a key option.

With a 14.4% Usage Rate that ranks 10th on the team, Aldama getting over this points prop will be extremely difficult. Despite starting, Aldama is still only averaging 10.1 points per game. He did most of his damage when Ja Morant, Desmond Bane and especially Dillon Brooks all missed action.

Our model has Aldama only projected for only 7.8 points in this matchup against the Wizards, which is well below this prop line. On the main three-game slate, this under prop bet is the best option. There are a few other Aldama under props to pick from, but I like the points with his low Usage Rate.

This game has a slate-high 225.5 total as the Grizzlies are implied for 118 points. This is quite a high total when the Wizards play at the fifth-slowest Pace in the league. Even if the Grizzlies put up a ton of points, it is hard to see Aldama getting over this prop playing alongside such high-usage guards on his team.
