Super Bowl LVI Odds Update After NFL Week 9

Table of Contents

NFL Week 9 told us the Super Bowl LVI was a wide-open betting market still this season with its never-ending supply of twists and turns and like the adage goes in sport, “You’re only as good as your last game!”

It’s certainly keeping NFL fans on their toes let alone the bookmaking firms whose Super Bowl LVI Odds are up and down like a fiddler’s elbow.

What Did We Learn From the NFL Week 9 Carnage?

Early on the card of Week 9 brought us deja vu with a slew of underdog winners like week 1. Jacksonville Jaguars turned over the overrated and underpriced Buffalo Bills. The return of the $40 million Dak Prescott wasn’t apparent for the Dallas Cowboys until the fourth quarter when they narrowly avoided a shutout in the last five minutes, by which time the Denver Broncos had already wrapped up an impressive away win.

The Atlanta Falcons was sneaking past Divisional rival’s, the New Orleans Saints at the Superdome, the week after the Saints had subdued Tom Brady like they always do. The Cleveland Browns whose offense is getting healthier finally racked up the sort of score a freed-up Baker Mayfield has potential for. The only predictable occurrence on the early card was the Minnesota Vikings losing another close one, but we all know Kirk Cousins modus operandi by now.

Strong NFC West Continues to Surprise and Fluctuate

The late card on Sunday saw surprises too, with the Arizona Cardinals who started the week with Kyler Murray and 3-point favouritism, went off without their star quarterback as underdogs but still winning comfortably against their Divisional rival’s, San Francisco 49ers.

Whether this affected divisional rival’s LA Rams later when they got spanked by the gangster squad that is the Tennessee Titans only the NFL God’s will know, one thing’s for sure, Hall of Famer, Adrian Petersen back in the fold running the Rams ragged meant Derrick Henry was barely, if at all missed.

This brought home fans a potential glimpse into Matthew Stafford’s future at the highest level with three interceptions and that’s going to be the expected pressure he has to deal with in the play-offs. Hard not to be impressed by the last four weeks’ results from the Tennessee Titans and re may revisit their Super Bowl Chances in the coming weeks if it looks like they are managing well without Derrick Henry.

What Does Sunday’s Carnage Mean for the Betting Market?

The safest option for the leading teams on Sunday was to have a bye week like Tampa Bay Buccaneers who unsurprisingly sure up in the market a little. Baltimore Ravens and Arizona Cardinals got clipped a point while all the others who lost have drifted slightly in the betting.

Does This Mean Our Opening Bet, the Kansas City Chiefs Is a Live One?

When we backed the Kansas City Chiefs two weeks ago, we knew they had a couple of easy home week’s approaching. They’ve duly won against the New York Giants in the first week who franked the form a little by beating the Raiders on Sunday while the Green Bay Packers looked toothless without Aaron Rodgers and looked ridiculously short in the betting at circa +1000.

The acid test for the Chiefs is yet to come, but this week as they go on the road to the Raiders it’s another match they should win. The real test may follow with a home encounter against the Dallas Cowboys so for sure we will know more in two weeks. Like Andy Reid said on Sunday, “It’s all about the W” and if they could back it up with wins in the coming two weeks things would start to look rather progressive because it’s obvious, they have the ammunition to perform better.

With that in mind, I’m going to advise a bet on the AFC West for the Kansas City Chiefs at the generous price of +165 with GTbets to lock it up for the sixth year in succession.

The opening -2.5 looks generous under the key number against the LA Raiders this weekend coming at -115 with Intertops.

Where Do We Find the Super Bowl LVI Value After NFL Week 9?

I can’t help but be wooed by how the Cleveland Browns are starting to rack up the points with Baker Mayfield improving now Odel Beckham Jnr is out of the picture. Yes, there’s still defensive issues from absentees but their injury list is improving slowly while there’s no doubt the offence is getting healthier.

Interestingly, the Cleveland Browns are a bigger price for the AFC Conference than they started the year for Super Bowl LVI and at 4-4 with the New England Patriots and the Detroit Lions the next two weeks they won’t be any worse than 5-5 and if they get the better of the Pats this weekend, they will be 6-4 and heading for the Playoffs.

The Baltimore Ravens will be difficult to peg back in the AFC North, but the Cleveland Browns look an interesting small-stakes play as a longshot in the AFC Conference with the potential to add to the Super Bowl LVI market at a later time.
