The thing I’ve found about people with BILLIONS is they didn’t gain BILLIONS by burning through money for the most part. Of course “inherited” money is different - but as business people - if you accumulate excessive wealth - it’s not from being overly spendy/generous.

Only hope is he learns from the Haslams/Mark Cuban and all the other billion dollar team owners - sometimes you just have to hire people who know football and let THEM run the show. Obviously Jerry Jones is involved in his team - but he at least knows a little something about football. Not everyone is Jerry Jones - and even he learned to delegate power/decisions on personnel and focus more on running the “brand” and not the team.

The Panthers have requested permission to interview the following coaches:

— Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson
— Texans offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik
— Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan
— Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn
— Ravens defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald
— Dolphins offensive coordinator Frank Smith
— Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris
— Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken
— Buccaneers offensive coordinator Dave Canales
No Jim Harbaugh?

Harbaugh goes to LA Chargers - if anywhere - much better situation and much easier to sign a big name or 2 to come play in LA - especially with a young star QB in place already.

I gotta think Monken is the best possible choice / but again there will be others in that bidding. Callahan from the Bengals might be best fit - look what he managed - even without having Burrow.

I remember being down in Cincy the year before Burrow arrived during the last pre-season game. The town felt a lot like Charlotte does now with the attitude towards the team. Couldn’t have been 15k at that game - no one cared. Hell - even this year when Burrow went out - had a book calling the week after giving me tickets they couldn’t give away.

Similar markets and the path forward is clear - win and build a little excitement with the fan base - eventually they will come. Then use that momentum to attract a few names. Plenty of guys who would gladly play in Charlotte in December vs Buffalo or Cleveland for the same money. Toss in some nice communities like out on Lake Norman to encourage them to want to live there - and you can build a team back in 2 years.

Winning will always appeal most to players - but with the parity in the NFL - money and community go along way. Would you rather take 10 mill and have to live in Cleveland all winter - or same money and play your games in a warmer climate ?
