Most people never move

Why??

No balls and afraid
I can’t tell you what it is. There are so many people I know that have never left the west coast, some even California. I even know people that have never left Southern California. Everyone talks about they will do and what they want to do as far as maybe moving to a different place. Most never follow through with it. I’m not bragging but what I’ve done living in Israel, China and Vietnam is pretty damn impressive. I hated Israel, China was great but hard to communicate but the life I’ve made in Vietnam and immersed myself into the culture and society is impressive. I know so many people that say they want to come here to visit but the excuse is it’s so far away. I don’t even entertain those types because you hop on a plane and just come. It’s really that not that big of a deal. People are weird.

Pete, where at in Europe?
We've looked at Spain but have heard Germany is pretty nice.
I was looking at retiring to Portugal at one time. I even visited there. Beautiful weather and the cost of living is cheap.

Health insurance is $150/month and it covers everything, including major surgery like knee replacements and such.

There is also an English-speaking enclave in the south on the ocean called the Algarve where a lot of Brits go to retire.

@lemartinsports You are a Việt Kiều, you could live in Vietnam extremely easy, as long as you have proof that one of your parents is Vietnamese you are all set and it is very easy for you.
oh yes, for sure. my mother was born and raised in vietnam and came to the states in her 30s. i have family living over there now including my oldest uncle, so i could make it happen if i really wanted to

im dying to visit

I live in Seattle, WA and it’s gorgeous. I would say it is a great place for you if you:

Have money. It’s super expensive here. I think it’s one of the most expensive places to live in the country now.

You are liberal or don’t care about politics. I know a lot of gamblers usually are conservative.

You are okay with cold and rainy weather for about half the time. But from about May to September it is one of the nicest places to live. Pretty much stays in the 70’s to 80’s in the summer. And unlike most of the country, we don’t have to worry about hurricanes, tornados, really extreme hot weather, etc.

i actually was looking into it because i agree its absolutely beautiful there, but like you said you have to be ok with the cold and rainy weather for half the time and thats an issue for me. i need a decent amount of sun

i have a friend from college that moved there after he graduated and he absolutely loves it

so im still something i'm keeping an open mind about it

thank you for sharing :)

Krit, I've heard people get depressed with all the rain and no sun in the NW.
Is this true?

Not that I know of. I will say that if you are used to living in warm weather and you move here, sure you could get down. But most people that live here are used to the cold weather. It actually doesn’t rain as much as people think. When it rains, it’s usually just a sprinkle, but it can be constant. Not very much do we get heavy rain. But our summer is basically mid 70’s to mid 80’s. No humidity and we don’t get crazy hot summer which is nice.

I hate to impose but if my wife and I visit, will you show us around? I'd buy dinner and drinks.

My wife is a Northerner (midwest) and loves cold weather.... go figure. The closest friends/family are in Colorado which isn't quite the same.
