The Open Championship is half over and there is an unexpected name atop the leaderboard. But will he stay there? The sale of the Washington Commanders is complete and deplorable Dan Snyder is out, but he walks away a far richer person. Lionel Messi makes his debut in Miami and for those that want to go, it will cost you plenty. This and a full load of betting info and free picks for you!

About Last Night…

MLB

Arizona was in position to sweep Atlanta on the road taking a 5-3 lead into the bottom of the 8th inning as +175 underdogs. But the Braves' always treacherous offense plated four times for the victory to avoid the sweep.

We know Detroit is only 44-52, but did their job in taking three of four at Kansas City. The Tigers are only four games back of first-place Minnesota in the loss column. Not saying Detroit is a contender, but with how bad the AL Central is, the Tigers players have to be excited about opening up a seven-game homestand starting tonight.

The slumping Tampa Bay Rays have tumbled out of first place in the AL East with their extra-inning loss to Baltimore Thursday. The Rays have dropped five straight and scored a grand total of 13 runs in the process. Watching this thrilling matchup, Tampa Bay hitters were pressing, especially with runners in scoring position.

Golf

After an opening round 4-Under, American Brian Harman topped that with a 6-Under Friday, and it looks like he will have a significant lead (3 strokes or better) at the halfway point of the Open Championship, with players still on the course Friday.

The 36-year-old lefthander was in contention last week at the Scottish Open before a final-round 74 pushed him into a tie for 12th. In truth, this should not be a complete surprise as in his two past tournaments he was T-2 and T-9 and 12 of his last 13 rounds have been in the 60s.

Justin Thomas shot 82 Thursday, making it two consecutive rounds of scores in the 80s for a major. Prior to that, in his last 109 majors rounds, he had posted one. Though he missed the cut, Thomas has to feel better with a 71 on Friday.

The Buzz

SOCCER – So You Want to Go to Miami Game to See Lionel Messi's Debut

You might want to check your debit card balance first.

MLB – Spencer Strider is Money for Strikeout Props

NFL – Miami Passes Buffalo This Season?

While we are still in July, we keep finding articles and information that Miami will surpass Buffalo and win the AFC East and be a stronger contender to win the AFC.

Currently, BetOnline has the Bills at +125 to win the division and the Dolphins at +285, which is behind the Jets at +250. And any discussion to think Miami could surpass Buffalo begins and ends with Tua Tagovailoa playing at least 16 games and being healthy.

Maybe with less pressure, Buffalo will improve, but the Bills have not done much to better their roster while Miami keeps adding pieces to help Tua. Interesting topic.

Top Betting System

MLB – Royals vs. Yankees (+102 RL)

Play Against AL road underdogs like Kansas City with a money line of +150 or more, allowing 4.9 or more runs a game on the season, after a combined score of three runs or less in the last game.

Teams like the Royals are an undesirable 7-46 in this situation, losing by 2.1 RPG, making the Yankees an RL choice.

Out The Door

NFL – Dan Snyder Wins by Being a Loser

The sale of the Washington Commanders was completed, and while the NFL fined Snyder an insane 60 million dollars for being a dreadful owner and person, he’s walking away with 6 BILLION on the sale, which for him is like throwing away a pen that is no longer writing properly.

MLB – Today's Biggest Line Move

The White Sox vs. Twins total has dropped from 9 to 8, though Lance Lynn (6-8, 6.06) and Joe Ryan (8-6, 3.77 ERA) are still slated to pitch. We did our best to check the lineup and the information doesn’t lend itself to anything vastly different. And there is a 40% chance of thunderstorms, but no drastic fronts or wind changes are called for. All we can tell you is the Twins are 14-5 Under at home when the total is 8 to 8.5 this season.

NFL – Not Paying Running Backs (Update)

On Wednesday my position was made clear on this topic. However, though this doesn’t change my opinion on running backs getting paid after they have played five or six seasons, this is illuminating.
