I think they should give the kid one last year, he just really needs to work on his passing game.

scott kacsmar thinks "At the end of the day, my decision for the Bears would be to sit on this No. 1 pick for as long as possible, if not until there is a minute left on the clock on draft night. Wait for the best offer possible to come in and do not jump at anything early.

In the meantime, I would thoroughly interview and study the top quarterbacks (Young, Stroud, and Levis) in this draft. Fields has not been successful enough after two years nor is he too much of a financial burden to stay committed to him for 2023.

If the Bears feel one of these quarterbacks can take them the places they want to go, then they should draft him No. 1 overall and move on from Fields much in the way the Cardinals moved on from Josh Rosen to Kyler Murray in 2019."

and honestly i dont think that would be a bad route to go either.

what do you guys think?

You know Goldilocks and the 3 bears? Well mama bear and papa bear are getting a divorce.

In court they bring in baby bear. The judge puts baby bear on the stand and asks him who he'd like to live with?

"Well not papa bear he beats me," says baby bear.

"So mama bear?" asks the Judge.

"Oh no she beats me even worse than papa bear" says baby bear.

"So who would you like to live with?" the Judge asks curiously.

"My grandma bear in Chicago." says baby bear.

"Your grandma bear doesn't beat you?" asks the Judge?

"Oh no the Chicago Bears don't beat anyone."

Tough call on replacing Fields.

Good college QBs (Young, Stroud, etc...) don't always play out well (e.g. Fields) so taking a chance with a young QB. When was the last time a QB came into the league and played well from the start (excl Purdy)?

They usually need 2-3 seasons to learn and become proficient, like Josh Allen. Drafting a QB and dumping Fields might set the next guy up for failure too.

Some teams are going to offer a lot for 5hat #1 overall

Chicago needs a lot of help I say they trade down and pick up whatever fortunes some team will give up

This is my thinking as well. Fields still has plenty of potential and has already started learning on the job in the NFL so deal that #1 pick for the boatload of picks it will sell for and then they would be in a position to potentially strengthen 3-5 spots or so over just the 1 which isn't a sure thing by any means.

But is CJ Stroud and Bryce Young really much different than Fields or smy better?

Probably not

Keep Fields, trade down and take the kitchen sink a team will offer
I think trading down is a good option, while still getting rid of Fields or maybe make him a WR/RB utility guy

I think either of those guys would be better though, especially Stroud

Fields is a good athlete but his accuracy is far below those two guys, as well as his
ability to read defenses quickly

Fields rushing stats have clouded peoples judgment a little bit. He was an awful thrower this year for the most part.
