Not sure rationalized the word. They have been happening for a long time. They didn't use to make the news though unless it was something high profile. Now almost all do. Shootings although seem like totally increasing, not so much. Our brains will never be able to quantify how populated just the USA is, sad as it sounds its not even a blip on the radar. I would use "desensitized"

Sounds like half the guys I know after losing a dime in the final possession of an NBA game.

It was actually a drug deal gone bad. Guns cash and Fentanyl were all recovered at the scene. Also like 5 of the 10 people shot were innocent bystanders sadly. Also two people were arrested.
