Not sure rationalized the word. They have been happening for a long time. They didn't use to make the news though unless it was something high profile. Now almost all do. Shootings although seem like totally increasing, not so much. Our brains will never be able to quantify how populated just the USA is, sad as it sounds its not even a blip on the radar.
