There would be no backlash from people because most rational people can distinguish between a decision to terminate a pregnancy and bullying a mentally challenged kid. They won’t look at it terms of law, they will at it in terms of common sense and decency.
It doesn't matter what rational people think.

Gambling, pot and liquor were illegal at one point and cost many people their jobs & careers.

I'm sure you are aware the 'unborn victims act' refers to any fetus in utero as a victim if killed as a result of the mother dying in a crime....so States are beginning to define life at 14-24 weeks.

Rational or not, they don't view it as aborting a pregnancy, they say "what was baby's crime, what did baby do wrong?

Kinda like those ads you ran in PA regarding OZ euthanasia on dogs he supposedly tested medicine on. Dems love to protect their fur babys.... do you value dogs life more than babys? Most rational people would value babys life more, just like most rational people know what a man is and what a woman is and most rational people know when a guy can't firm words & sentences he probably shouldn't be 'promoted' in politics beyond his current level

You’re off on different tangents that are not relevant here. Of course it will matter what people think. DA’s will decide all the time whether or not to press charges, even if something meets the standard of breaking the law. Plus you’re back dating here about something that would not have been a crime nor could the person be prosecuted now. I’m not saying it couldn’t open up something but your analogy was a bad one and really doesn’t apply.

As far as the ads go, some of us don’t believe that a fetus is a life. Many doctors don’t. In fact, Dr Oz didn’t years ago but since he started running for office, he’s changed his stance. Abortion should always be a decision between a woman and her doctor. Certainly not 60 old dudes in DC. That’s just silly. Those old men care about control, not life. He, she….who cares what someone wants to call themselves. That gets you guys all wound up. I don’t care about it. Doesn’t bother me at all. I love pussy, guy on another block loves dick….what do I care. He can go bang dudes all night.

LOL this isn't an abortion debate, it's a discussion about the NHL diving into historally sealed records of a minor who did commit offenses, bullying type offenses, but offenses that were sealed and in turn prohibiting home from earning upwards of $10mm if not more.

I used the abortion comparison to illustrate the invasion of privacy here and the attitude towards the offenses.

It's kind if amusing that Vitty views a bullying assault charge as a worse offense than a potential manslaughter or child endangerment charge.... but I do hope the illustration demonstrates THE NHL is in the wrong here and this is not good precedence going forward.

If the NBA followed suit or the NFL they might have to purge rosters

I’m not using anything about your poor hypothetical analogy. I’m simply stating bullying a mentally ill kid for years, is different than an abortion. And abortion was legal and the law of the land in the time frame we are discussing. So your attempt to make a point fails anyway. There is no correlation or comparison.

You right wing guys are all over the place with this stuff. The NHL, NBA, NFL can decide whatever they want. They are a private business right? You guys never want govt involved in private sector decisions, so let them decide who they want representing their product on a case by case basis. The NFL doesn’t want Colin Kapernick and the owners black balled him for years. You gonna tell me he wasn’t better than half these horrific white back up qb’s? Teams and the league said no because of distractions. Are you gonna stick up for him?
